Wasn’t JD clocked at 21 mph this offseason?

Daniels has progressed in one season as much as ANY LSU QB in one season as I've ever seen
Was a very wise decision for him to stay another year and up his stock. Kelly can use this as an example of success in his pitch to kids considering leaving early.

he turns it in gear and that guy fricking flies. nothing deceptive about how he routinely gets the edge on defenders and then splits guys downfield
It's deceptive because it looks like he's just trotting along. So many other players with elite speed look like it's taking effort.
It's like Pepe LePew. The cat is like the defense running crazy and JD is like Pepe - same ballpark speed, but just gliding.

Jackson is a bit more decisive. JD has gotten much better with this, but Jackson is a tic better. Jackson also finishes runs much better than JD.

Please. Jayden daniels is not better than a former NFL MVP.
Jackson will never make it to the AFC Championship

Lamar is a more dangerous runner than almost any non-RB in recent memory. He runs with more lean and contact balance than Jayden, is probably a touch faster, and has more wiggle.
The smaller Vince Young comparisons resonate with me based on how Jayden glides around the field. He’s got incredibly smooth acceleration and is able to maintain full speed while bending around the edge — it’s awesome to watch.
Jayden has a much quicker release than Lamar and seems to be a better passer all around, even with Lamar’s edge in arm strength.

Jayden Daniels was one of the most prolific passers in California high school history at the highest level of competition. Full stop.
He threw for almost 3k yards in a timid offense with 17 TDs and 2 INTs as a true freshman stick figure that wasn't physically mature enough for high end D1 football and took down Oregon's playoff hopes. He had 2 NFL receivers that year, Aiyuk and Darby. Darby came back for the COVID season, but missed all but a game and a half. ASU realistically should have still been undefeated that year. They went 2-2 on horrible luck against the LA schools and annihilated the other two. They were probably the best team in the conference.
And then the wheels fell off. And he looked BAAD when half the coaches were fired, the others were planning to get fired, his mom was part of their NCAA problems because she had the audacity to play a part in trying to buy airplane tickets a month or two before NIL started, blah blah blah.
Jayden Daniels, since he was a twig at 165 lbs dripping wet, was the great "What is he going to look like when he's a grown man?" question. Nobody doubted his talent. And it turns out, the early 20's version now that he's put on a solid 45 pounds of muscle, is REALLY, REALLY good. He has multiple NFL receivers again since the last time he looked great. Crazy how that is, dudes get open and he hits them.
JD5 was basically ASU's "chosen one", and the only smile I get from this shitburger of a CFB season with our conference collapsing and us off to play cow towns I don't care about is that the guy we thought would bring us to the promised land is arguably the best player in the country. I just dream about what we could have been if he, Johnny Wilson, Ricky Pearsall and Badger were all still there. Add Conyers at TE and I'm struggling to think of a better receiver group in the country. Have fun stopping that.
I just wish you all came through with the defense to back him up.

Lamar did the same thing but in the NFL. Daniels is a much better passer than Jackson was in college. It took Jackson a couple years in the NFL before he learned to pass. Also NFL OCs didn't really know what to do with someone like LJ back then. Daniels shouldn't have that problem

Matt Jones? He was not that fast but
quote:Matt Jones was fast as hell, faster than most of the WRs in the conference. And that was while being a tall, gangly dude that took a moment to get up to speed.
Matt Jones. Ran a 4.37 at the combine
I wouldn't be shocked if Daniels runs in that range. He absolutely has elite football speed, once he's moving nobody catches him.
I'm waiting for the bowl game, when it is all just for fun... they will put both QBs in the game, motion Daniels out and have him run a go route. See if Nussmeier can overthrow him deep- and I bet he can't, even if he unleashes a 70 yd missile.
