Amazing. The only DC politician to have less net worth after leaving office and these morons call him a swindler.

When Ron declared I suspected it was a bad idea since he essentially couldve just easily tied himself to what Trump began and been the uncontested nominee in 2028 but was willing to give him a shot. Now I am absolutely positive it was a mistake of epic proportions and wouldn't be one bit shocked to learn it was a very pre-emptive move coordinated by sock puppets for the Dems to cut his future legs out from under him.

End of the day it was his decision even if influenced by others.

I am pretty sure I have seen enough to say, at least right now, Ron isnt cut out for national politics. He is perfect as a governor. I think someone like Youngkin has a good profile that could carry the post trump flag many handed Ron if Glen Y has the desire.
Posted on 10/16/23 at 9:46 am to td01241
The problem with Youngkin is nobody knows him and if the best governor fails, why would you put stock in a less of a governor? And this being after Ron supporters said Kim Reynolds from Iowa was the second best governor. It’s always anything to stop trump, aka never trumpers.

I think his ability to maintain a low profile while largely being effective at doing the things the VA voters put him in office to do, within reason just because an R is governor the entire system doesnt become R, without really any negative media response or takedown attempts I can truly think of is a very impressive quality in itself. Basically, in my mind and this is of course a simplification it shows a more mature, nuanced, and chill way of maneuvering through politics than Ron has ever had and absolutely fell off a cliff when he declared. We need guys to do both roles im not saying Ron isnt valuable you need muscle men too.

Letting actions speak instead of words. What a novel concept.

I cant tell if youre supporting or rebuking my concept lol

You have no idea what you're talking about. That's exactly how DeSantis walked to a lopsided reelection.

The media has done a pretty good job of painting Ron as a nazi. He probably should have chilled out on some of the abortion stuff, too. The idea is Youngkin might be able to work on some TDS suburban women.

Look Flats I like you and I am not disparaging Ron, as I said we need guys like him and what I am categorizing Youngkin as (but just to be clear we obviously dont know if he is that or not yet). But nothing about what Ron has been doing in FL has been nuanced or chill. Which is honestly fine with me we need some people (read R governors) to actually take the fight to the left but they have to accept when they do that they are going to get beaten and bloodied by the "4th estate." This is what I was getting at and Youngkin having somehow magically not been hit by this same thing while still doing many similar things in respect to attacking things woke holds dear he has managed to not take heat. This indicates someone better fitted for a national scale.

Definitely supporting for candidates who have actually let their enacted policies speak for them.

By being supportive to an ally?
This board is so weird. Trump is either insane and needs to STFU. Or he's "bending the knee" and being a bitch.
Or... follow me here... that's just how Trump acts... like we saw for 4 years.

When did you start paying attention to him? What's he done that makes him less nuanced or chill than any other governor?

You seem to be equating not being nuanced or chill about some things is somehow me saying its bad. Banning schools from transing 6 year olds without at least informing their parents is the morally, ethically, stand up thing to do. Many of the things he has done have been POSITIVE things that needed to be done. That doesnt mean he did them in a nuanced or chill way because frankly the situation called often for the exact opposite. Which is why I said above I was more than willing to give him a chance when he declared but he has made it more than clear he belongs at governorship where he can be incredibly effective. Not to mention he is having an extremely public legal battle with whats probably one of if not the biggest media/entertainment/cruise/theme park companies on earth which again isnt nuanced or chill. Does that make what he did wrong in taking away reedy creek or how he did it? No, frick Disney. Stop equating my use of being nuanced and chill as good and lacking that as negative.

That doesn’t give them a free pass to do whatever they want and Disney is the one who made that very public.

I didn't say it was negative, I just don't think it's an accurate description. He governed and was rewarded for it. He didn't live on Twitter, he didn't hold rallies every other weekend, he didn't have abnormal numbers of "statements" or press conferences, he just governed. Disney is about the only example I can think of that supports your position.

Again I do not disagree lol. I fricking hate Disney and I hope Ron and his new board he installed and their criminal investigator now appointed destroys them.
My essential point is you need guys at state levels of leadership who can make actual meaningful more or less immediate change in peoples lives for the better. Ron D has been exceptional at doing this, however, the ivory tower and self anointed dont see that as what he is doing and so he is attacked viciously. Intentional lies are spread by media to falsely characterize laws hes signed or things hes done. Im not saying its all his fault but we have to deal with the reality we have.
I never even meant this as a condemnation of Ron. Not everyone is meant to president. In fact if State Governors had a sack they could be more effective than they ever could be as president.
