At the last moment the Israelis pulled out of what was supposed to be a joint hit on Qasem Soleimani, the useless Iranian General responsible for most of the roadside bombings in Iraq.
He didn't even call Trump. Trump was informed by his generals last minute. He decided to go ahead without them. And the rest is history.
