I was really glad Pillar came and played for the Braves, after Jacob Webb smashed his face with a fastball. I can't completely explain my feelings on that, other than to say that he seems like a good man to me.

I didn't ever follow an MLB team year after year until I moved to Atlanta. Maybe someone can give me an opinion on something: is it usual for a club to sort of "chew through" young pitching talent like the Braves have?

Ian Anderson, Kyle Wright, Mike Soroka, Max Fried, Mike Foltynewicz... they've all mostly followed the same flash-in-the-pan trajectory. Bryce Elder is, I fear, queued up for much the same. And that's not even getting into the guys who fizzled altogether, like Aaron Blair and Matt Wisler. Then you read about Steve Avery and think, wow, this is just in this organizations DNA.

I don't know, though. Like I said, I am a noob.

There’s a lot of injuries with MLB pitching.
