It has probably been a while (unless you’re some psycho that checks their spare on a regimented basis) and with the passage of time, crazy weather, temps, etc., it may be in bad shape or at least kinda flat, thus defeating its very purpose.
And these are not the days to be stuck somewhere immobilized.

they make really compact and easy to use air inflators these days to throw in a car. Some may not be enough for a truck tire but some will do the job to get enough air in a spare tire.

I really like that mine has a sensor in it that tells me when it gets low just like the regular tires.

Half the OT probably can't change one anyway.

Exactly since it comes free with my car isurance. Yes, I can change a tire but why when I have this asistance? Just like changing my oil. Yes, I can do it at home but why when I have the money for someone else to do it in 10 mins?

Shouldn't you be checking this at every oil change? At the very least at every tire rotation?

Those are great for a cold front. The OP is correct about the spares. Construction workers DGAF and people get nails all the time. A compressor won't help that.

Stuck on the road for at least 1 1/2 hours. None react as quickly as you would like.

Years ago I got a flat and put on the donut. Well the donut was flat too and I had to ruin it getting to the gas station. I started carrying a bike pump and a patch kit after that.

A little air if a nail is in tire can maybe buy you a few minutes/miles to get to a tire shop.

I don't know about anyone else but I always keep one of these in the back of my truck in case my spare underneath may be flat.

It's about the most fancy feature in my GX. Although it's not smart enough to tell me which tire it is, so i have to check them all.
