Flying to Italy on Saturday, for 10 days. While things may be fine now, my worry is that somebody nukes somebody, or some other crazy shite goes down while I am there, and Europe goes into lockdown.

Yeah, your mistake was posting your travel plans in this thread, that you started. The leaders of the world have been holding off on WWIII until they can cause maximum disruption to your vacation.

Go ahead and go. You'll be fine, even if someone nukes someone.

There shouldn't be any impact from the war in Gaza.

My only other thought is that the risk of terrorism is going to be higher for Americans worldwide for the immediate future.

There are places in the world that I've felt comfortable traveling to in the past that I would not visit today -- or, if I did, it would be with a higher level of preparation and regard for my security.

Good friend works for Delta Air. They have specific plans for terror/war related scenarios (as you would imagine) and the one for conflice in Israel has already been implemented. Step one involved getting all their people out and that happened in the first 24 hours.

Anything else has already been implemented. If your flight isn't cancelled, then you can assume that they have deemed it safe.

We leave for London next Saturday and yes I have the same concerns….not about nukes, but just the unrest around the world.
I’m not gonna let it ruin my plans, but will be more prepared just in case

Hope these fears lead to less travel and lower prices.

I'm curious. What exactly are these new preparations you speak of?

Nothing crazy…just more observant of surroundings…pay attention more to local news and events than I would have. Registered on the Step program which I would have never done before.

Just a reminder.

What to know about the ETIAS requirements Starting in 2024, American passport holders traveling to 30 European countries will need to receive authorization to travel via the ETIAS, a long-awaited measure designed to prevent terrorism.
