Heading to tge Hochatown OK area in a couple weeks. Would love to let the kids lay into a few on Broken Bow lake or even trout on the Lower Mtn. Fork River. Any tips from the OB brain trust? TIA

Check in with the fly shop if fly fishing on the Lower Mtn fork is what you are looking to do. Great guy that runs it and will help you out with gear/flies and guide if needed.

Also, if just looking to catch them with spin tackle, you can do pretty good with the trout on berkly gulp trout bait.

I went up there twice about 6-8 years ago, we caught a good bit of trout on the fly up/down river from the bridge that runs through the park. Up section is catch and release(fly only), down from the bridge is keep and anything goes.

On my second trip up there I watched some buddies snag about 10-12 good trout in the keep section on the berkly trout bait, up until they got popped by the game warden for not having a license...

Its a good time up there, very pretty and not a whole lot else going on.

Haven't fished Broken Bow in a while but bass used to bunch up way up in the river arms starting in early summer. I would think that they would be following the fall transition. find the bait and find the bass.

We went back in March. I got a guide for two half days since I didn't know anything about rainbow trout fishing. He had our two man limit within an hour, then we switched to catch and release. Steve Branson was the guide and I recommend him highly. He was super patient with my 7 year old and even me as I kept trying to set the hook at any nibble out of habit.

We really didn't need him a second day because once you get how to to catch them then you can easily do it yourself. We just fished the mountain fork river below the dam.

They release fish in the river on a weekly/monthly schedule. Maybe the local dwlf has it posted somewhere.

This was my experience as well this past summer. Fun times!
