I was under the impression everyone in Israel was armed. I went there once while in the military. Lot of uniformed personnel with arms, and our tour bus driver was armed, along with others I saw.

It was weird watching Hamas drive around in pickups just firing at people, while others got video from an apartment balcony. They should have been raining bullets down on them. In most areas of the US, Hamas would have faced withering gun fire in that situation.

I did as well. I was with the 10th Mountain in 2005 prepping for an Afghan Deployment. We went to train on checkpoints and what they were calling a tactical callout. While I was there at a checkpoint we came under small arms fire from Hamas. Nothing major but we weren’t even allowed to carry our weapons. I don’t remember seeing any civilians with weapons either.
