My wife had a potted hibiscus. Same issue. She read to use rubbing alcohol or something. I let her try it. Just threw the plant out yesterday.

Seems to have pretty wide applications.

frickers ate a hibiscus and had begun on a crepe myrtle I planted a few months ago.
I was too late on the hibiscus but for the CM, I mixed 2oz antibacterial Palmolive dish soap with 12oz water in a spray bottle.
Sprayed the entire plant from all angles.
Also sprayed the ground out to 12 inches.
It dried overnight and stuck the bastards in place.
I then gently rubbed away any spot that had visible MBs.
I then sprayed the CM well to remove the soap residue.
That was two weeks ago.
The CM has recovered and MBs are gone.

I just spray them off with a water hose, seems to work for the most part.
