What is would do is force the republicans in the house to vote against him and that would end their political career so it would be a good thing to have him run for it whether they approve him or not.

There are quite a few Republicans in purple districts, in blue states, that were elected by a thread. Voting for Trump would be the kiss of death for them.
There were 14 Republicans elected to Congress in 2020 from districts that went for Biden.
