doing that as a CB vs. as a QB is just a tad different, don't you think?
of course it is different, but it busts the myth that miles refuses to play freshman because they are freshman

You guys should really consider the fact that JJ was facing a defense that was rated BEHIND LSUs!!!! And, he went 9 for 21.
I'm VERY unhappy with Miles this year. I think he stunk up the joint. That said; pretty much ANY coach who thought the backup was showing ANYTHING in practice would've given him a shot with Lee struggling as he was.
Clearly, JJ was extremely shaky in practice and let's face it, we really haven't seen anything definitive in a game to indicate thinking he wasn't ready was an absurd line of thinking.
For the comparable 1st outing numbers, you'll not that Lee was 11-22 against an AU defense rated about 45 spots ahead of Arky's defense and he was 18-27 against Miss St defense rated about 22 spots above Arky's.
There's nothing to really say that JJ wouldn't have blown arse against the best teams on our schedule and gotten his confidence shaken too.
no doubt. sadly there aren't many of us who get this

I've never subscribed to this myth and could cite a number of examples to debunk it. And the myth is more about playing an upperclassman over a younger player than it is just freshmen.

completing 40% of his passes may be why
He had several dropped passes and he actually threw the ball away a couple of times which Lee obviously could not learn to do. This kid played a great game and put up 30 points in his freshman starting debut against an SEC team. I would say that's pretty damn good. Also he was obviously handcuffed by poor play calling in the second half of that game. Miles chose to play not to lose instead of trying to get a first down and play to win. It bit him in the a** to leave the game up to our defense that has been struggling. What is the most upsetting fact is that we lost to an Arkansas team that was missing 2 starting lineman, a linebacker, and their best player (Michael Smith) a running back. Completely embarrassing.

if JJ was pretty damn good against Arkansas, what was Lee against Miss State? Amazing?

I think Lee played well in that game. He unfortuntely did not improve at all during the course of the season and to anyone it is obvious that Jordan Jefferson has more upside. Jefferson did not make the mistakes that Lee has made over and over this season. He gave his team a chance to win and his coaches and defense blew it. You can;t sit there and say that the play calling in the second half was not shite*y. They handcuffed the kid instead of just letting him play. They did the same thing to him against ole miss. When we were down big at the end of the first half they just let him come in and run the offense like it should be abd then in the second half they got over conservative again. I'm not saying that Jordan Jefferson is the second coming of Joe Montana or John Elway, but you can't say that he didn't play well and show more potential than Lee has shown all year. If he wasn't ready to come in and contribute earlier this year then that's the coaches' fault. He was the state 5A championship qb that ran a spread offense and never lost a game as a starter. I refuse to beleive that this kid was not ready to contribute to some extent since the beginning of the season. You may disagree but I think most don't.

with a few more outings under his belt NOW he is better...NOT YET REALLY READY, but better.
A few games back, he was not.
He still takes one read and takes off running.
The other reads will come with time as he gets his "high school" ways out of him.

That's better than what Lee did and just throw it to him anyway (see the 17 interceptions for reference). He should use his legs. They're one of his weapons.

he has dealt with things that JJ has not dealt with so comparing what JJ jas done for a game and a half and Lee for a season just isn't fair
JJ played with MUCH less pressure and MUCH less criticism, and played a full game against the worst defense in the SEC, put up worse numbers than Lee and people are crowning him qb next year
quote:
Jefferson did not make the mistakes that Lee has made over and over this season.
through the same time frame Lee showed more accuracy, he was more decisive in his decision making and threw a MUCH better depp ball
other than the pick six's (in games LSU still won largely due to the play of Lee) and scrambling ability, what did JJ do better?
quote:

it was. largely in part because of who their qb is, what % of the playbook he is comfortable with, the throws the coaching staff feels comfortable he can make and his decisions when he does drop back to pass
quote:
They handcuffed the kid instead of just letting him play.
they did the same to Lee throughout the season
quote:

of course you can
i'd probably give JJ a C- for his games against Arkansas and Ole Miss considering the opponant and pressure on him. I'd probably give Lee a grade of C or C+ considering the same influences)
You just can't compare anything beyond that fairly.

Looked like Jefferson was more ready to play than JL

do the words "pick" and "six" mean anything to you?

Yes, Lee threw pick six's in his first 2 games, AND still had enough "moxy", "confidnce" and accuracy to lead his team to victories in pressure situations much greater than what JJ has had
Lee gets no credit for LSU being 2-0 in his first 2 games, and JJ gets no blame for LSU being 0-2 in his first 2

At what point in the season did Les say that JJ was going to get some playing time? Was it before or after Hatch got hurt?

playcalling was way more open for those two games too.
we were still throwing the ball wide open.
dude, you can suck off lee all day who hasn't progressed as a QB AT ALL, and i'll support the better QB, which is Jordan Jefferson.

doc why do you hate the record breaking qb?
lee broke records as a freshman

you keep saying that like JJ was totally a victim of the playcalling, and not a major factor in why/what was called

suck off? figures
you're just rantastic
i'll support LSU's qb's regardless of who they are.
i just wonn't convince myself that when i see the guy i root for complete less than 50% of his passes against the worst defense in the SEC and LSU go 0-2 that i just saw the answer to LSU's qb problems.
