Say you live 2 hours outside of Atlanta and you're halfway there when you remember you forgot your gun at home. Would you turn around and go back home and get it?

Yeah, no, I can't imagine heading into the belly of the beast without being armed at my age and stage.

Seriously, go back and get it. It will help you remember next time.

No

I understand the merit behind the idea that picking and choosing when you carry is a misguided way to do it, but at the same time I don't typically get uneasy when I'm not carrying.

If there is a circumstance where I genuinely think that carrying is vital to my family's safety - it's time to reassess doing whatever it is.

No.

It’s a great reason to buy another gun.

Add two hours to my trip to go home and get my weapon? No. Stop and buy a new one? Yes.

Sounds like a great excuse to buy a new sidearm and holster.

I live in Baton Rouge.

That means I keep a piece in my car at all times.

I keep two sub-compact pistols in my vehicle, no chance I'm driving anywhere without at least one of them and a spare mag.

That's how I explain why I carry to the people who just don't get it. The standard question is "Why do you think you'll need it?"
Answer: I don't think I'll need it. If I thought that I'd change my plans, or I'd damn sure carry something besides a handgun.

I also don't think I'm going to have a kitchen fire any time soon (or ever,) but I have a small fire extinguisher in the pantry all the same. If I noticed it was empty I wouldn't cease to use the kitchen, but I would pick up another one when I got the chance.

What is the purpose of all that shite strapped to the back of the driver's seat? I don't think I will need to kick in any doors. Besides, no breaching charges is amatuer hour.
