You're more right about this than you realize. Actually getting shite done is in the backseat to talking and crowd size. Blistering social media posts are taken as Gospel, and DeSantis isn't good at social media. And he's conservative, which increasingly is frowned on in the Republican party.

Baby steps my man. It took +70 years of conservatives caving to the Dims/Groomers and it will take a shite load of election cycles to swing the nation back towards sanity.

What I learned in 2022 is American society is so far left any mention of abortion by a conservative in a contested election is a loser and I'm Extreme Pro Life. Conservatives have to be much more stealthy on the Woke social issues and not make those issues their primary platform. MAGA/America First should focus on the open border, dismantling the Bureaucratic State, protecting the 1 and 2A, the selling out of US manufacturing to China, forever proxy wars, and the repeated financial bailouts by US taxpayers for mismanaged financial institutions, that's a message that will immediately appeal to working class, blue dog democrats and many libertarians.
