Weren't you the guy last week who was saying there was nothing to worry about and that how they're playing going into the playoffs means nothing?

To be fair, I don’t think our offense striking out 6 straight times matters.

What does matter is that our current postseason rotation is Strider, Fried with a blister and then a bad pitcher, rehabbing pitcher or a AAA pitcher for game 3.

Yes. I’d be more than happy to wager with you on the NLDS if you’d be willing. If you think they’re more likely than not to lose we should work something out.

Edit: I don’t know how confident you are but we could set something up on a P2P site and I’m willing to bet literally any amount you want if you think my assertion that they should feel pretty good going into the NLDS is so misguided.

My one personal gambling rule is that I will never bet on a game or series where my favorite team is involved because I can't be objective. I never bet on Georgia, Braves, or Falcons games.

That said, the Braves are playing like a team who is about to get swept in the first round. They've played like dogshit since they clinched, and even the biggest homer would have to concede that.

I do not believe that they can just flip a switch and all of a sudden decide to play like they did in June again.

Aren’t we like 35-7 in games started by Fried and Strider this year? And they will be starting 4/5 in the NLDS.

I have to be missing something.

I feel like you’re trying to do the “stay calm everyone” thing like you tried to do before the Dodgers series, except in the other direction. Clearly, you don’t like people getting too excited or too down one way or the other.

I still think we are better than any of the possible NLDS teams we can face, but I also acknowledge that we are another Fried blister setback from having one true starting pitcher available for that series.

Murphy still rolling over also.

Fried only pitching 12 innings over the last 5 weeks if/when he starts game 2

Honestly I'd almost rather he not even move his bat with runners on base at this point.

You're a hell of a lot more confident in Strider than I am. It seems like even when he pitches amazing, he's still giving up 3 runs. He looked absolutely awful on Sunday against Washington.

The Braves will have to be perfect in all 3 games against the Phillies when Wheeler isn't pitching, because I have zero confidence that our pitching can keep them under 4-5 runs.

Our offense has fallen off a cliff over the last few weeks. I am very skeptical of that changing for the better after two weeks of hitting like shite and then 5 days off.

Every time I check the score we’ve given up another run and scored nothing.

People got mad at me for saying the Dodgers series was not going to be a good barometer for the playoffs or have any impact at all (which I still believe) and we absolutely dominated that series and now they’re acting like we aren’t ready for the playoffs so it seems like now they agree with me.

The bottom line is you’re right that I don’t think any regular season results mean much of anything when it comes to the playoffs. We’ve seen too many hot teams suck absolute arse in the playoffs and teams come off the mat to catch fire. We have the best roster, which is a great thing, but the games are played and managed completely differently and it’s such a small sample size that it’s very very luck dependent.

We have the best offensive roster, yes.

We don’t have the best pitching staff.

I don’t believe any team in the playoffs would trade our roster for theirs 1-26.

I think the Phillies and Cubs would be fine with hitting roughly the same amount of homers and scoring the same amount of runs over the last 2 months while having better pitching numbers over that same stretch.

The Brewers would definitely take our offense, but not sure they’d be willing to do it and give up Burnes, Woodruff and Peralta.

Dodgers definitely would trade places with us, considering their pitching issues are about the same and they have a worse offense.

I have never seen any data that supports “last 2 months” data is more valuable when predicting playoff success than full season data. Is there somewhere I could find that?

Now, you’re just being an a-hole

But if you want data, see: Braves, Atlanta 2021
