on the TE crossing routes were we not trying to cover that with a LB or was it supposed to be a safety?

I think people see a completed pass and automatically blame the secondary. These are the same people who think a great corner can “take away half the field”. It stands to reason that if you expect each corner to take away half the field every completion must be the fault of the secondary.

Not every play was the same. Down at the goal line where Burns hit the tight end at prevented him from getting in that was on Burns. (Burns lined up on him a few times and got called for a few penalties and got beat a few times but it wasn't him every time. He also had good coverage on a throw to the end zone that ended up being incomplete.)

On the scramble touchdown that was on Zy Alexander for not staying with him.

On the play action wide open touchdown to tie the game at 31 that was actually a linebacker it looked to be Greg Penn there.

Most of the time, because teams are lining up with 3 and sometimes 4 receivers, the TE is the linebackers’ man. If out, it’s outside LB or safety, if it’s a crossing pattern… MLB. If the QB has time…..more often than not, the TE will be open.
