How wrong were all you people that said he was the best corner on our team midseason? He almost by himself lost the game against Arky.

I'm not ragging on him but I thought all year when Jai would come out for PP it should have been Hawkins coming out. I really don't see what makes him the most consistent corner on the team.

Oh wait I forgot he's a Jr. so he doesn't come off the field. NM.

Horrible scheme we were in on that final drive. I may be wrong, but it looked like JV Cover 3, except Hawkins was playing man. I haven't watched the game back yet.

Hawkins had a tough game against Arkansas... no doubt. But he's been a solid CB all year, and it's not like our D was exactly helping him out by pressuring the QB.

QB with a good throw beats a good CB almost every time.

If I remember correctly Hawkins was playing in a zone when he made his interceptions. Maybe he is not a man to man guy. The coaches should have relized that.

And that last throw in Ark game was perfect.

Hopefully we'll see more Phelon Jones next year.

Hawkins no more cost LSU the game than Peterson dropping a sure INT a couple plays before. It was a TEAM effort.

Hawkins is not the guy I would be after.

T. Johnson made a selfish decision that ultimately cost us the game.

I really don't see how someone can be that fricking stupid and then to walk over to the sideline with out so much as a "what the frick dumbass?" really pissed me off. I hate him

No one individual single handedly loses the game but he did get burned twice for scores for the oposing team.

T Johnson doesn't pull that crap and we win that game handily. Arky punting from their own 5? God, it makes me sick.

i just don't see how hawkins can be blamed for not being able to stop a fade route to a 6'4 receiver with a perfect throw to the outside shoulder on a 4th and 1.

Crawford could just have easily been doing a sland or a hook to get the 1st down.

I would rather jai, brandon taylor, or phelon jones start over him at cornerback. Hawkins also isnt physical at al in the running game

I wouldn't trade Peterson for any corner in college football, but he has had excellent coverage and been beat several times this season in less chances.

I can't and won't defend Hawkins for every short route he bit on that ended up a TD, but when you play perfectly sound corner coverage and intercept the ball resulting in a pass interference call, chances are it will affect your future performance in that game.

We have a scheme and technique combination issue involving man to man coverage and safety help. Not every QB we faced this year is a Heisman candidate, it just looks that way. We have to hope that the personnel that remains can somehow translate the experience they gained this year to the new coordinator.

Phelon is a redshirt freshman. I dont remember him being that bad besides that time he got beat against troy. I just think he has more ability than hawkins

Both Phelon and Brandon Taylor have looked pretty lost in man coverage in the little bit of PT they've gotten. They both just need reps, but at this point Hawkins is head and shoulders better than both of them.

Guys,

It's same old "Coaching"

Our coaches didn't put these players on a position to win. All these players you mentioned here were pretty good coming out HS. Saban tried very hard to sway Phelon.

Let's be honest here. Can you imagine what our defense would be with Saban here?

Most schools are dreaming to have kind of players we have.
