Wife totalled her SUV, so we're in the market for a new or used one. I figured I might as well trade in my 2500 as well and get something used, either a gas 3/4 ton or half ton

To the OB, I haven't truck shopped in 4 years. How many miles is too many on a vehicle now and what should I be looking to pay? My stomach is already sick looking at Yukons

Not my cup of tea, but did it have Hwy miles or was it mainly used on back roads/farm and what will it be used for? Daily driver or not.

Not sure yet. I'm mentally preparing my anus for these suv prices and I figure I'll look at whatever trucks are on the lot of the dealership

Look at new prices and look at used prices.

I have not looked lately so I don’t know the answer but last year when I bought my truck (new Tundra), used were more than new.

I could have sold it right after I bought it for around 5-10k more than I paid for it.

In other words, it isn’t always cheaper to buy used.

Lower mileage will provide remaining warranty. Buying a Certified Pre Owned is another consideration, but adds cost.

We're in the market for a Denali XL and the prices for a 2022 with <30K miles ranges between $72k - $74k on average. Some dealers are asking +$78K with lower mileage.

The only price reductions we've seen are on vehicles that sit at a dealer for a couple of weeks. Once the price gets low enough, the sell quickly.

I don't know the difference in trim between the SLT and Denali. Looks like any XL with 60,000 miles or less is going for 50 to 60k. We priced a regular Yukon, not the xl, for 80k. A Denali. But I still don't know the difference.
Just need leather and 2nd row bucket seats with a power liftgate.

I'm trying to find either an f150 or a Sierra for in the 30k range. They all have 100,000 miles.

As above, it depends on highway miles vs. city commute miles and how well the truck has been maintained.

I would much rather have a well-maintained, seviced by the book truck with 150,000 miles on it than one that has been ragged out and neglected with 65,000 miles on it.

I just bought back my old Ford from my bud.

2001 Ford F-150 4x4 SuperCrew with 334,000 miles
It's gonna be the farm truck and might leave the property for gas.

We’ll be prepared. Looked at them a couples ago and it was mind boggling. Ended up with an Acadia Denali. Wife loves it so it is all good. Her mom ended up trading her ‘22 expedition in on the same vehicle but a different color. She loves it also

I’m trading in my ‘19 Sierra with 125k because GM transmissions are pieces of shite.

Currently looking at 2022 F150 Lariats with ~10k miles. Not sure if that helps you at all but in a similar boat and that’s what I’ve landed on.

I'm torn between ford and chevy. Disgusting that anything with around 100k on them still runs $30,000.

But still probably a better transmission than my 68RFE in my 2500

I’d stay away from the GM 8spd. Especially ones around 100k miles.

$6500 to replace.

You can get all this in an SLT for way less than 80k

The Denali and SL are the supposed trim packages.

The Denali doesn't mean it has "everything", like it may or may not have a sunroof. It probably has the "special" grill, and a mono-chrome bumper, and maybe a default (larger) engine/tranny for that given year.

The SL or SLT could be loaded and have even more options than the Denali.

You need to just look at each one you're interested in to see what it has.

This response sounds personal. Really close to home.

Try a dodge 68rfe. About $10k and a 2 month lead time.

Had one crap out on you? Mine is still alive but made a funny noise the other day.

To answer the OP, these days I could live with 200k+ easily if it was well cared for.

my vote is frick keeping up with the jonses, buy a both a 10+ year old truck and suv with low mileage and roll with it. You could do this for less than $50k combined.
