Great performance and it's surreal to see a 4k video from 1991.

I’ve always liked to reimagine the lyrics of the outro as

She keeps the puppet strings on my heart

Agreed, that 4k upscale from a '91 video is amazing. Young Grohl was such a badass on the drums.

Not necessarily my favorite, but the most significant to me is the Where Did You Sleep from MTV Unplugged. Cobain's anguish and pain come pouring out in that performance. That deep breadth and wide-eyed expression at the end of the song now seems like it was basically foreshadowing his suicide a few months later.

I’ve always wondered how much Lithium he was doing.

Drain You - MTV Studios Jan 1992

Might not be my favorite version but I wore out the VHS recording of this set when I was a kid

Big Long Now (Remastered)

It's not cold enough
Please put this side up
She's moving through
Can we show our faces now?

I'm not interesting
She's not turning green
Shameful as it seems
Can we show our faces now?

Endless climb
I am blind
Why can't I leave?
Color blind
Speaking a phrase
Instantly grown
I am blind
Waiting in line

It's not cold enough
Please put this side up
She's moving through
Can we show our faces now?
I'm not interesting
She's not turning green
Shameful as it seems
Can we show our faces now?

Endless climb
I am blind
Why can't I leave?
Color blind
Speaking a phrase
Instantly grown
I am blind

Why am I sure

I saw them live in '91 at Liberty Lunch in Austin - went with a friend who knew them but i didn't. Nevermind had just been released and they were on a promotional tour of small clubs. Concert was electric. The first few songs i was thinking they were nothing more than a garage band - it was sloppy. Kurt looked high of his arse. Mid set they blew the roof off the place. A few weeks later, the Teen Spirit video came out and they were huge.

That little club is now a skyscraper surrounded by skyscrapers and that little band I'd never heard of is legend.

Cool Story, I could kick myself for never seeing them live.

In Utero was released 30 years ago today. It was their third and final album.
