After Perry Riley intercepted that pass and LSU really had a chance to put the pressure on Arkansas, the coaching staff tries to throw the TD on 3rd and 1. While I don't really like the call, I could have lived with the call if LSU had gone for it on 4th and 1 with a run. In my opinion, that was one of the worst calls of the entire game especially when you have timeouts left.

That decision essentially cost us the game. We should have had 4 more points on the board.

like he said it was a good call if you were planning on going for it. You had timeouts and your running game was doing well....a FG did nothing there.

I didn't like the call, but the missed field goal early in the game cost us the game. The same as in the 'bama game.

Agreed - my ONLY pet peeve about Miles (up to this point) has been his poor clock management at the end of halves. We have 38 seconds, 3 TOs, and we come away with a FG attempt. Pitiful. End of regulation, we have 3 TOs, ball on Arky 46, 19 seconds left, and end up with a 63 yard FG attempt, and 2 TOs in the bank. Again, PITIFUL.

So, if that cost us the game, what about a missed field goal, dropped interceptions (several) and botched interference call?

I would rather see the players making mistakes than our coaches making clock management blunders that result in not even giving them a chance to win.

I stated already that I wouldn't mind the call if the coaching staff would have decided before the call to go for it on 4th and 1.

There are very many plays that actually could have cost us the game, but I think scoring a TD there would have changed the game a lot more than the FG did.

I agree... but I didn't think it was that bad a call. We took a shot. Didn't work out.

this was one of the many reasons for the loss that falls directly on the coaching staff. you say, if it works you wouldnt say anything...you have to see the situation for what it is. frosh qb, we had run for over 100 yds already, don't be an idiot.

The 3rd and 1 call wasn't terrible, but not going for it on 4th and 1 made it a terrible call.

It was terrible. We had a ton of momentum in that 2nd quarter. We had a timeout left. You have to believe we could pick up ONE damn yard to get the first down. Then you call the timeout and you have three chances to go for the endzone and then kick the fg.

Les had to be drunk to do something that stupid. You can apologize for him all you want, and I am a Les supporter, but that was extremely poor coaching. The worst since his 1st Tennessee game.

Wonder if the decision was Miles or Crowton?

True, but I wonder if the plan all along was to go deep and kick the FG or if Crowton wanted to go deep thinking we would run for it on 4th and 1 if it wasn't successful.
