Leaving House Windows Open in Southern Louisiana

Just got back from a trip where we could leave the windows to our rental open all day and not have to worry about running the a/c. Would like to do something similar for a few hours now or for longer once the weather gets cooler. Any issues I should be aware of, like mold / strain on a/c once turned back on, etc. Anything to consider before opening the windows, such as making sure the outside humidity levels are below a certain threshold? Thanks

I frequently open windows here in BR in spring/fall when cool and breezy and never had any problems..growing up, parents often did same
to me, nothing better than airing out the house when the weather is nice

This.
I just wish it wasn’t such a small time frame.

The house I grew up in had an attic fan. My dad was stingy on the A/C so it was a treat when that thing could be run.

I'm in N.O. and open my windows quite a bit in the fall/winter months to get a good fresh air cross breeze flowing through the house.
My main issue is when the guy who maintains the ball park 1/2 block from my house hops on his ATV and drags the infield for about 20 minutes when the ground is dry. The whole infield is dirt, so it kicks up quite a bit of dust and that goes EVERYWHERE.

Same. My parents used to leave the door wide open during nice weather. I can't do that because of my pets, but enjoy a window or two open.
I have an old house, and the master bathroom has swinging-door type wood frame windows behind the toilet that are 3-4ft tall. Swing those babies open in the early morning when it's cool out, and nobody's morning poop stench will make it into the bathroom itself.

I went to Breckenridge last summer, and was in heaven sleeping with the window open while it was in the mid/high 30s at night. In the summer! Blew my mind.

If you want some numbers as a guide line, here is what I use.
Temperature must be in the low 60's and humidity about the same to open up the windows. Lower numbers are even better.
When the outside temp. gets up above 70F, you might need to close the winds, unless the humidity is say 55% or lower.
During the fall/spring, the A/C unit will not be running very much to lower the humidity. So you do not want the house humidity to get up near 60% because it will start to get uncomfortable.
