So, my recycle pickup used to be Wednesdays.

It's now been 2 weeks and no pickup. I'm in an unincorporated area of EBR.

I understand there's a new contract and prices have gone up, but I thought there was still going to be weekly pickups of recycled stuff? Last week I left it out all week, and I see neighbors doing the same.

Can anyone give me a clear answer on what the deal is? Do I need to just pour this stuff into the garbage bin and call it a day?

Call 311 and report it. Get your neighbors to do so as well.

Ours picked up same day. As far as trash, no pick up, last Friday, nothing Tuesday this week , fingers crossed for tomorrow. Called and texted 311 , no response. Can I get a credit on my bill.

If they don't pick up by afternoon of your scheduled date, call them. They get an earful if they aren't picking up on time, ESPECIALLY the DAY they are supposed to. Obviously in some scenarios (extreme weather) they might be coming on time, but generally speaking, there is almost no excuse for them to miss a pickup date.

From what I’ve seen and heard here in EBR; since the new contract services have been cut, stuff isn’t being picked up and it’s getting worse.

Ok, I have seen that page, and I'm not sure how to use it to report anything.

I have used 311 in the past, was able to get a street light fixed once, and am now 3+ years into one of the ditches (a couple houses down the street) being clogged, so the entire street backs up and will not drain.

I will find a number to call tomorrow, it still hasn't been picked up (and I've left it to the road).

We're recycling cans, milk jugs, and cardboard (amazon and other shipments, as well as from boxes of purchases). This has accumulated since the last Wednesday in August, which was when it was last collected... so August 30. Up until then it was always collected, so we loaded it up as we always had. It was pretty full due to the cardboard- I've cut it to be flat, but that still takes up a good bit of space. When it didn't come last week, I quickly learned that the new contract was in place... so I left it out a couple days then, and kinda figured it was due to the change. I have since put a few more things in, giving the benefit of the doubt that they'd get things right by the second week.

They HAVE done the garbage, same days as before.

And tonight as I came home @ 8pm, it still sits at the road, full.

If I gotta pitch it, I will. That will take 2 of us picking the recycle bin up and dumping it into the garbage bin (for those unfamiliar, it's a lighter gray bin, slightly smaller than the garbage one).

Ours used to be Thursdays, but we got a card in the mail about 2 weeks ago saying it was changed to Mondays. Might wanna check that.

I entered the complaint last night on 311 website, there's a response today

Hmm, OK. You change the day from Wednesday to Saturday, I probably did miss the postcard stating that. But then apparently the Saturday pickup wasn't done until Monday morning?

They need to get their shite together. I may not live in the Country Club, but we shouldn't have to leave trash (and recycling) bins out to the road every day, in the hopes that they MIGHT come. In their own admission, they might come 2 days later.

And as for the postcard in the mail- this is a personal vent on my part; that service needs to get into the 21st century.
I pay Water/Sewer/Garbage on automatic deduction, because that's the only way you can do it without a paper check in the mail (or cash at some office). Everything else I pay for, I can sign in online and view/pay my bill, and it's been that way for over a decade. I still have a pack of stamps that cost something like 39 cents apiece, next to a checkbook on my desk... with checkstubs written back into before 2010. I don't write checks, I don't use mail much at all except for package delivery. It's pathetic that an essential service can't be logged into and paid online.

Lowering your expectations will make living in BR a lot less stressful.

Oh yeah, I fully understand that. This place has become a complete shithole of a city/parish/state

I live in an older, unincorporated neighborhood. Not actually in any city, but close enough to Central that my son attended high school there.

It's an older area, doesn't flood. Did not flood in 2016, just about everything else out here did.

Our light poles and utility poles have not been vertical since Katrina/Rita, although they finally got to replacing some in the last year or so.

I say we don't flood; you do see flash during heavy downpours. My back yard will go completely under, about 3-5 inches when the skies open up. Poor gradient, I guess. The ditches on this street will back up when that happens, because there's a culvert that has been clogged halfway down the street since before then. And I've seen several instances where the storm sewers are overflowing like geysers a block away. But the actual depth of the drainage ditches are super-deep, and this water quickly goes away. I guess it just runs off to the next entry area.

In a civilized community , our poles would be straight vertical, the drainage culverts cleaned out so the natural drainage would be efficient, and the trash and recycling trucks would come on set days so you don't have to either guess, or just leave shite to the road indefinitely.

Click on your house and a pop-up shows about 7 different categories. Click the right arrow until you get to recycling service.
