- No. 14 LSU (1-1) travels to Starkville this Saturday to face Mississippi State (2-0). Mississippi State is coming off a 31-24 overtime victory at Arizona.
- LSU's overall record against Mississippi State is 77-36-3.
- LSU/Arkansas game on September 23 will be at 6pm CT.
- Kelly made some comments about tragic events of 9/11 and offered thoughts to first responders and families affected by the attacks.
- Kelly happy that the team played for 4 quarters...pleased with how team handled emotions...game got chippy and team kept composure...only had two penalties all game.
- Kelly happy defense settled down after slow start and missed tackles in 1st quarter.
- Mississippi State has gone more away from air raid and now runs a more traditional offense.
- Will Rogers is one of the more experienced QB's in the SEC.
- On the LSU defensive backfield: it's a work in progress but Kelly feels they are getting better, but acknowledges that there is a lot of inexperience there. Talent is there, though.
- Team will need to wake up earlier on Saturday since it has a hour-long bus ride from hotel to Miss State stadium...
- On TE Mac Markway: didn't play his last year of high school...enrolled early and participated in LSU spring drills. Good blocker.
- Injuries: Mason Taylor and Omar Speights are probable for MSU game.
- On Lance Heard: liked his presence in the lineup...did well with assignments and was physical. Thought he handled the emotions of his first collegiate game well. Will be part of the rotation moving forward.
- On Harold Perkins: have made some adjustments to take advantage of his speed...will see him moving around more.
- John Emory will be back this week...Kelly plans to feature whatever RB is "feeling it"...RB depth is good so they can rotate as necessary.
- Miss State has one of the best running offenses in the conference.
- On Masson Smith: he was excited to return, but he was rusty, as you can expect.
- On Denver Harris: liked his demeanor, didn't lose his cool when Grambling was messing with him (eg, they knocked his helmet off, held him, etc)...thinks he is growing as a person and player. Kelly says he wants to be coached up, which is great.

I am pretty sure he has better things to worry about.

If it’s not the first thing out of his mouth, can we really trust this man as our leader?

I would like to know how the students feel about DJ SuperMike before I pass judgement.

I think people are confusing "DJ" and emcee.
I didn't have a huge issue with the DJ...but the emcee has to go the way of the dinosaur and the Yugo.

Got some feedback from some students:
"Hated it"
“Felt like I was at a pelicans game”

That was exactly what I said.
I am encouraged to hear this. I hope they made their voices heard to LSU.
I know the young kids make fun of us "older" folks for being old fashioned, and there is merit to that.
But Tiger Stadium is unique. Tiger Stadium does not need gimmicks. It should be allowed to stand on its own merit.

You spent all morning thinking about what to text yourself pretending to be Brian Kelly and that's the best you could come up with?

His answer on anything to do with Perkins have been very strange. BK thinks they moved him around well and he ended up with 1 tackle?

Perkins just looks lackadaisical and indecisive out there. That rabid dog needs to be told to heat seek the football and whomever is carrying it every play and to stop overthinking.

Why is everyone hating on the dj. Stop being fricking old arse men crying about a dj. The kids love it that’s all the matters.

A. No it's not all that matters.
B. Do they really though?

Has Speights been hurt this entire time? If this is what is slowing him down he needs to sit out until healthy because we have very capable backups with no drop off.
