No.
We are firmly in Southwest Monsoon Season. Same time every year, beginning in June and ending usually mid September-ish.

I'd say Heavy D Sparks, but you are correct in your general assertion.

Burners, especially veteran Burners are remarkably well prepared. It also isn't the monsoon season, that is winter and spring. BM usually doesn't see more than maybe a 30-minute shower. The biggest issue is dust/wind and freezing temps at night.
If rain not only cancels your entire event but causes a "national emergency" requiring rescue when most others call it a fun weekend you are not well prepared for jack shite in general.
I am sure some individuals are but it's certainly not the general rule.
You also need to check your almanac, the fact you do not know when the monsoon season is means you likely never properly prepared.
Below is a quote from the City of Las Vegas.
quote:
Monsoon season arrives in the southwestern United States in the late summer. As the land heats up, it causes humid air from the Pacific Ocean to move inland and north through Mexico, Arizona and into Nevada. The moist air eventually becomes unstable and forms thunderstorms. Monsoon Season typically lasts from late June to mid-September.

Isn’t it almost 500 miles from Vegas? Idk what the season is but that doesn’t seem like a good comparison. Maybe Reno.

i’m still on the “let this group figure it out the hard way” train. sorry not sorry.

Nobody that has ever met me, certainly not traveled with me, would ever call me ill-prepared. It is impossible to prepare for every eventuality and certainly not for every freak possibility.

LOL, admittedly I just mimicked you with the use of monsoon because there is no monsoon season in the Black Rock Desert but the wettest times of the year are winter and spring. The fact you use southern Nevada to make your climate point shows just how much you know about the micro-climates in the region. The playa is impacted by the Cascades and Sierra Nevada range and is 350 miles north and 175 west of Las Vagas. You might want to check your map because if you are unaware of this you are likely usually lost.
Whether you know it or not you are trying to big-dick someone that has spent time in some of the most inhospitable areas of the planet and knows how to read a map.

Read it again more slowly and get someone to explain the tough words, it aint a Las Vegas afternoon forecast and is the same in the entire region just as it says.

Why would you microdose at Burning Man? May as well fully dose.

Burning man is in the Southwest? It’s almost fricking Oregon.
ETA I was curious so I looked it up. This is Reno, which is about 2hrs southwest of Burning Rock City..

No I am just sitting here laughing at someone try to split hairs in an effort to run from their previous statement.
You should be far more worried about convincing NOAA and the NWS than some anonymous poster, they are the true science deniers.

The Southwest Monsoon season encompasses a big arse geographical area. Some years it is stronger and more prominent than others, covering a larger area. Others it doesn't impact much in the US. Sometimes it barely even develops at all. It also has much more to do with wind than rainfall.

If I was in a nice stocked RV trailer, then I would probably enjoyed the experience. Though I might have to fight off people who want to use my bathroom or shower, even mooch off my food...

Could probably build a nice little harem of hippy chicks if you had a nice place to stay. Might be hard to convince them to take a bath though.
