Seems like having Perkins spy Travis would be a great way to neutralize his effect on the game. Since that's not what we're really trying to do, I don't think you see it very much.
I agree when you are talking about a traditional spy but Perkins attacks when he spies. The idea is flush the QB with the DL and then Perkins attacks like a heat seeking missile. If we are worried about their WRs vs our DBs, we need to move their QB off his mark and then have Perkins make his life miserable.

The spy is only useful when you have secure defensive coverage and an incredibly mobile quarterback.
For all we know, our secondary is/could be the worst group on the team. So, you attack the quarterback, disguise coverages, and feast on sacks/turnovers.
Considering Perkins is the best pass rusher/athlete on the team where do you think he fits in schematically this game? Do you think they let him sit idle and wait for Travis to make his move? Or do you unleash Perkins to do what he does best? Logic says the latter.

That’s not “attacking while spying” that is spying.

Right. I think you will for sure see some of that.
A good DC will mix it up. Just another set in his arsenal
