Wow, could there be a more egotistical self-serving opening 5-6 paragraphs to a column ever?

Whitlock is an enigma to me. Some of his columns in the past have been great. Some of them are just race-baiting and self-serving. The problem I'm having with this one in particular is exactly what you said, tryign to dig through the egotistical self-servingness of it to find the couple nuggest of actual truth and insight - of which I do think there are some 'moments'.

All in all, its usually a pain to read through his blogs, for these same reasons.

This much we know, he hates Chris Fowler's guts with a passion.

I agree with that.

Seriously, he has a paragraph about not wanting to say 'I told you so' then a paragraph about how his whole goal as a journalist is to be able to say 'I told you so!'

What a joke.

He is correct. ESPN has too much control. Now that they have the BCS, they will do everything in their power to shape the polls and insure the matchup that will get the best ratings, regardless of who the best teams are.

They can't match his resume. Getting Ball State to 12-0 under the best circumstances is far more difficult than getting Oklahoma to 11-1.

Not sure what to make of that...

yeah, it's littered with all sorts of brilliant gems like:

Getting Ball State to 12-0 under the best circumstances is far more difficult than getting Oklahoma to 11-1.

quote:

Ball State is the most disciplined, well-coached team in college football.

quote:

If you watch Nate Davis play, he looks like the second coming of Brett Favre

quote:

Not one of the Big 12's quarterbacks is in the same physical ballpark as Ball State's Nate Davis. It's not close. They can't match his arm, instincts, touch, accuracy, presence, ability to move in the pocket, out of the pocket or make plays when things break down

Nate Davis is NOT the best player in college football. He's a very good player, but not the best.

Is there anything more tired then hating ESPN. Jesus. I read it on a million times a day and now have to read national writers talk about it. Call me crazy but as a sports fan I'm pretty happy there is an ESPN.

More hatred, Jason Whitlock towards Chris Fowler, or Reddman towards Dusty Baker?

Go.
