Daughter graduates next spring from a SEC institution in electrical engineering. She's telling me that companies no longer do on-campus interviews. Is that true at the campuses you're familiar with?

I remember in my day that's all you had for a first interview. I remember having one day where I did 2-3 back to back.

SEC institution, hahaha, as if they are the same or education is defined by being in the SEC, that’s funny. Vanderbilt or Mississippi State is irrelevant, let’s go with SEC institution!

Whatever works!

SEC should really pull away from the rest of the electrical engineering world post-NIL.

I did 5 in one day at the Tiger Stadium Suites. Was a cool experience but damn it was grueling.

*checks the OT*

Goes back to daughter & says, “Well the OT says you’re lying & they’d like to see a picture of you”

Nobody cares about a college education anymore. Is she hot enough for only fans?

I had the same thought, but honestly I doubt there's much difference in an EE degree from Vandy and one from Mississippi State... or Auburn, Florida, etc.

Same. Companies came to Ceba and you put your suit on and did 2-3 interviews in a day. This was ISDS grad in December 1998.

I always thought that was pretty cool of them to help us get entry level jobs after college.

The OT can give me insight into what's going on at other schools, and leaving out the daughter's alma mater keeps the fan rivalry out of it.

I'm happy to post pics of one of those AI influencers, but that's as close as the OT's going to get.

He probably doesn't want to divulge personal real life information where his daughter goes to school. Some of us like to keep our personal life on here a little vague because of the classy folks on the OT.

yep, all SEC schools have less than 100 student population, it would be a piece of cake to track her down

Website for LSU career center says they have an on-campus interviewing program held each fall & spring semester & interviews can be done virtually or their recruitment center has 22 private interview rooms.

I’m sure you can find similar info for every other SEC school.

I’d guess she probably means most companies do online interviews these days instead of on campus.

They were still doing this in 2006. It's how I landed my first real FT job.

Every semester LSU has a construction interview day where 50ish companies come in and interview students all day. EEs are welcome as well.

I’ve sat both as an interviewee and Interviewer

It’s how I got both of my internships before graduating and first FT job. Hell, I’m now back with the company that hired me upon graduation

But yet make sure we know it’s an SEC institution and not some non athletic elite C-USA or Ivy league institution. Just thought it was an odd way to phrase the question.
