He had offers from 10 universities that were all great, but he really didn't want to go the LSU. He still had great friends who went there and keeps in touch with them to this day. When he walked on the the campus at Mississippi for a tour in his Junior year of high school, he didn't want to like it. Thirty minutes into the tour I knew it was where he would go.

My wife and I are both LSU graduates. My son had a 35 on his ACT, 17 college credits, was valedictorian with multiple AP classes and LSU offered nothing worthwhile. Ole Miss and Alabama offered multiple scholarships worth between $125K and $135K. Basically free college.
We enjoyed our time at Ole Miss. He graduated with honors with a degree in Chemical Engineering. The whole process opened my eyes to just how little LSU cares about alumni and the best students in state. They cater to out of state students for their money.

re: Annuity Owners, please share your experiences.

Annuities are not for everyone and many on the money board look down on them because they don't return as well as the stock market. I have used then two different ways. Early in our investing career, my wife was risk adverse so we put away whatever we could into a fixed annuity earning 4, 5, 6 or 7% and also maxed out our 401k, 403g, simple, sepp, self directed 401k, etc. The interest grew tax deferred, and kept getting rolled over. We never planned on actually annuitizing, rather looked at it as guaranteed retirement money earning a rate better than a bank. Now that I am closer to retirement, it is one of several sources I will use to balance what I will owe to the IRS from my retirement funds. I have several with different maturity dates that continue to earn 4.5% or higher. They are just a part of a portfolio that contains stocks, bonds, ETF's, mutual funds, etc.. I was comfortable the last few times the market had a downturn and not all of my money was at risk and my losses were not as great.

Sometimes you try really hard but it does no good. You can see the signs that they tried to listen, but the dark voice will always be stronger than yours. They know that it will hurt others but they are in so much hurt it doesn't seem to matter. All of their nonchalant internet dealings will seem normal, except that one or two times in the last 48 where they seek out a means and decide.
Understand that it is not about you but an intense hurt you cannot fix. They entered a dark place and didn't think you would understand.

Maybe one day if you are unfortunate enough to be the one being treated you will understand. Until then I am done wasting my time with you.

Not yet. This is part of the newest research in this area. Some of their previous work has resulted in new drugs which have recently come to be available for other cancer types. The information in the link is from the Society of Nuclear Medicine.

Your tumors may not show up on a regular PET scan as the study depends on the accumulation of FDG - a radioactive sugar conjugate that normally accumulates in rapidly dividing cells. The study in Germany uses a "DOTA-conjugated NTR1 antagonist 3BP-227" for imaging and therapy - a protein that is often over expressed in pancreatic cancer.
This research is the basis of targeted therapy where we image you with a small dose of a new type drug and if you uptake we give you a larger therapeutic one. It may or may not be an option but I thought it would be worthwhile to mention.

I am sorry to hear about your prognosis. Pancreatic cancer is difficult to control. A number of novel and possibly effective treatments are on the horizon; I recently read about this new radiopharmaceutical developed in Germany. It builds upon our extensive experience with Lu-177 - a well tolerated and effective isotope that is currently used to treat neuroendocrine tumors and prostate cancers. If other treatments fail, you may be a candidate for this treatment.
I will pray for your continued strength and peace of mind.

re: Outrageous moments in Tiger Stadium history?
Posted by RadioactiveTiger on 9/10/14 at 6:59 pm to CAD703X
A lot of these moments occurred in Tiger Stadium and were seen by many. This event was seen by several thousand people and it might have been the earliest recorded STTDB moment.
As a sophomore in 1979 I lived in the East Stadium dorms. It really wasn't that bad - there was no A/C but you got what had been a 4 man room to yourself and could let yourself into the stadium, through well disguised illegal openings, late at night and lay on the grass at the 50 yard line. That grass was so soft! Our rooms overlooked the opposing team entrance. Determined to do something special for the USC game we took three 15 foot long carpet tubes and lashed them together, placed a bucket on the end and covered the whole thing in paper mache and painted it flesh colored. Appropriate, artistic flourishes were added. Two brown paper "Schwegmann" bags were filled with paper, covered with black painted Spanish Moss and attached to the end opposite the bucket. On game day, in full view of the arriving Trojans our prop was poked out of the third floor bathroom window along with a sign - "Suck on this USC!" The campus police discovered our creation long after it caused a major stir. With great difficulty three policemen removed it and carried it to the nearest dumpster. The yearbook staff took pictures of the police toting the huge phallus but sadly they never made it to the yearbook. We all moved on to professional careers and forgot about the episode.
Years later someone mentioned this to me as one of the most unusual and hilarious things they had seen at an LSU game. Imagine their surprise when I told them I had done it.

Haven't missed a game in those 35 years. I'm a lot less reactionary than people like you. It's a shame that you don't really enjoy the game to its fullest.

I said "Almost every Championship season the formula is the same despite the competition. Baseball has a playoff, football doesn't." Thanks for dropping the part of my post that makes you look stupid and focusing on the part that really was a throw away.
Beam me up Jim, there's no life on this planet. What a total waste of time.

Ad Hominem = Lester Earl
You would think that after all of these good baseball coaches at LSU that you would have learned something. (After 35 years of watching LSU baseball I have.)
Almost every Championship season the formula is the same despite the competition. Baseball has a playoff, football doesn't.
March - A little rough as we find/test most of the starters.
April - Some setbacks as we find the role players and the all important Lester Earl "chemistry."
May -We hit the groove and drive to Omaha.
June - We prove that we are the best.
This is why I love LSU baseball - it never matters how we start but how we end.

Please....just stop. Now you want to talk chemistry? They're still testing the reagents.
