They didn't lose a game by more than a FG after the 49-0 blowout to Texas.

Going 3-4 after losing 55-24 and
49-0 isn't the upswing you seem to make it out to be.

Those losses were to 6-7 Baylor, 5-7 WVU, 8-5 TT, and 10-3 FSU. Keeping the bowl game close was commendable.

My expectations right now cannot be healthy. That OSU night game in Madtown on Halloween weekend may be one of the biggest games in the last 10 years (for us).

A team not in the preseason top 15 that has a favorable schedule and talent to make a splash.

They were expected to be a bottom half team in the Big 12. That's a little bit more than being a team that didn't start in the top 15.

Utah could be a pick but since they won their conference last year I feel like that is cheating a bit. Or Oregon, which I also feel like is cheating somewhat.

Someone completely out of no where coming up and doing it like TCU did though?

Nebraska if Jeff Sims just puts the team on his back is my true "out of no where" pick I guess.

I didn't call them a good team. All I said was that they played much better after 49-0, which was apparent to anyone who watched them. They didn't rollover again like they did against TCU and Texas. And they missed FGs in those 4 games they lost by 3.

I would even argue they showed up to the bowl game more prepared than FSU. If the players are buying what Venables is selling, then they should improve, especially if their atrocious defense can at least be mediocre.

Iowa. Weakest division in college football and they rarely play ohio state and always have an easy schedule. I thought I read where big 10 west has 3 of the top 10 easiest schedules in FB.

And they have the best team in that division.
