In the Black and Gold

The last several years!

Having said that

I think it was a bold move to get Derek Carr

Looking forward to more success for the Saints!

Saints legit could have had Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Jalen Hurts, and Deshaun Watson technically.

Nope. KC jumped ahead of us otherwise he would be in the B&G.

That’s the point

You move up to get the guy you want.

Spayton fricked that up

He blew the opportunity to draft Mahommes

He’d be nowhere near as good without Andy Reid and Kelce.

All the jockeying Sean Peyton did with moving up in the draft, and he couldn't move up one spot to get Patrick Mahommes? What did KC have to offer that the Saints didn't?

And I seen an interview that he told KC the Saints are going to come and get me if yall don't. I was like WHAT??? Yet I see why he didn't want to come he would be behind Brees vs starting over Alex Smith. Little did he know the fan base and Payton was over Brees epic fails around that time repeatedly losing in big playoff moments

Lol the irony of typing that. We carry computers in our pocket and you think that it didn't take imagination for you to live your current life?

Don't recall Brees allowing Diggs to make that catch in 2017 or Brees being responsible for the no-call in 2018. Wasn't on Brees that we lost to SF in the playoffs in 2012 either. What a moronic take

It would be nice to live in a world with the perspective of hindsight.

The Saints were drafting at 11. The next QB needy team was Houston, who was behind the Saints at 12. Buffalo was at 10 and Mahommes was still on the board at 10. Clearly Buffalo wasn't interested in taking a QB (since they traded the pick), and it's not as if Mahomes was viewed as a can't miss prospect. He was coming out of a Texas Tech which had a long reputation of producing QBs with big numbers in college who did very little in the NFL.

That aside, the Saints had to feel they were in a great spot ahead of Houston. All they had to do was wait out one more pick. No one anticipated KC moving all the way up to 10 from 27 in a draft coming off a 12-4 season with veteran Alex Smith at QB. Any Reid made what may go down as one of the boldest draft day trades in NFL history. Surprising everyone by jumping WAY up to take a QB for a good team that didn't seem like it needed a QB.

If true, it would explain why KC made the move they did because on the outside looking in it did not appear the Saints were truly in the QB market with Brees as the starter. Yes, Brees was getting old, so there was always a chance the Saints could try to draft his eventual replacement. However, that particular draft didn't look like the spot in which they would

Just think, we almost drafted him as the heir apparent.

The 17’ draft was a huge success, but the organization completely whiffed on the supposed Mahomes “leak”.

Oh what could have been.

He didn’t wanna come to Nola. Was on the phone with Reid and told him what everyone was telling him including the saints. Mahomes called Reid and said you have to move ahead of the saints

I agree completely…

Not to mention how it’s not Brees fault for this either:

If you hate on Brees you likely didn’t suffer through horrible years with saints either like fans before. Im greatful we got a guy who at one time or another led the entire NFL in most possible passing records possible including all time TDs, Yards, Completions, and completion percentage… not to mention he won a lot of games in New Orleans… held up a SB trophy and was Super Bowl mvp…

Pretty remarkable…
