Spayton fricked that up

He blew the opportunity to draft Mahommes

If the Saints had chosen Mahomes in the first round that year this board would have been in the biggest melt ever given Brees clearly had several more high level seasons and had not really shown signs of slowing down.

Well we dont know what Mahomes would have done in NO. The league is full of guy drafted with potential that have gone to the wrong teams.

Saints legit could have had Mahomes Nope. KC jumped ahead of us otherwise he would be in the B&G. He didn’t wanna come to Nola. Was on the phone with Reid and told him what everyone was telling him including the saints. Mahomes called Reid and said you have to move ahead of the saints

LINK

Like I said. MaHomes wanted to play for Reid. Not Nola

Did you even read the article you linked?

Mahomes said. "I was like, 'Hey, if y'all let me go ...' At the time, I didn't know about the Saints, but I was like, 'If y'all let me go 12 or below, I'm gonna get drafted by someone else.'

Apparently you and spayton were wrong

Spayton aint shite compared to Andy Reid

Andy Reid made spayton look like the overatted bitch that he is.

Spayton has moved up in the draft many times for busts.

Andy Teid knew what Patrick Mahommes was

Spayton didn’t

It’s that simple.

S payton was taunting Vikings fans when behind his back

Well you know what happened

He’d be nowhere near as good without Andy Reid and Kelce.

I’ll agree with that

Any Reid made what may go down as one of the boldest draft day trades in NFL history.

Surprising everyone by jumping WAY up to take a QB for a good team that didn't seem like it needed a QB.

The 17’ draft was a huge success, but the organization completely whiffed on the supposed Mahomes “leak”.

Oh what could have been.

nah, you wrong, Payton was definitely taking him(Ma-homme), and over a Lattimore too because he worked him out and loved what he saw in the kid. Payton said he knew he was a great talent that could make all the throws and was gonna be good in the league. He wasn't lying either, but the funny thing is it was the NOLA crowd or fan base that was feeling Mahommes. They weren't as thrilled with Payton taking him at No. 1, and some people will say NO that's not true, but I remember the comments on here about Mahommes around that time. Some actually thought they were better QBs in that draft than Mahommes, if you can believe that, but they were wrong of course because we know his history by now with KC.

But you are right about the biggest WHIFF in history because Payton should have just offered whoever it was that was drafting in front of Andy Reid, he should have offered them a second rd. pick or something to swap places with them to snatch him from Reid. Reid offered (I forget what team had that pick in front of Payton), but Reid gave them a lot to get in front of Payton to grab Mahommes because he knew Payton was waiting to take him. But it was just a bad move by Payton to not get back in front of Reid, by not giving up a high pick to swap places with the team in front of Reid to grab Patrick Ma-homme. Just think what the Saints could have done with him at QB these past 5, 6 seasons now, how damn exciting the offenses would have been. SMH
yeah, Payton blew that one!

While I don't doubt Mahomes' ability to thrive in just about any system, do you really think Payton's offensive "genius" would just reappear or be superior to Reid's? I'm not certain that it would. And, being that the 2017 draft class was so pivotal to all of our success that year and beyond, giving away picks to move up even a couple of picks may have meant you never end up with those players. Offense MAY have been exciting, but what about the defense? Would have been the same old song and dance from when the elite QB carried the team and had no defense to back him up

yeah, I get all of that, but I don't really care about all of that stuff that you put down(Although, I will say Mahome's talent would make anybody's so-called genius look good, be it Payton or Reid). But I was just answering someone that said Payton wasn't interested in drafting Mahome's over Lattimore that year, and well that just wasn't true. He very much was going to take Mahomes in that draft, and Andy Reid knew it which is why he traded up to get in front of Payton to grab him.

Imagine Taylor Heinicke in the Black and Gold. Now Taylor Swift. Now D'Andre Swift. Now DeAndre Hopkins. Now Dustin Hopkins. Now imagine Dustin Keller. Noooow imagine Larry Keller. Then imagine Larry Johnson. Here’s where it gets interesting, now imagine Billy “white shoes” Johnson. Ohhh, didn’t see that coming, did you. Now imagine Billy Joe Tolliver, Billy Joe Hobert, Billy Joe Dupree and Billy Joe all in the Black and Gold.

I’ll agree with that 100%

And would could have gotten something for trading Brees.

I know all about the No trade clause in his contract

But that could have been negotiated

Many great HOF QB’s were traded

Show me the proof please

And proof doesn’t include comments from Spayton or anybody else from the Saints organization

After they made the biggest whiff in NFL draft history

And don’t include the worst excuse that spayton talked to the team ahead and said they weren’t going to trade down

It’s all bullshite coverup stories

No, it's not my brother, he was definitely intent on taking Mahomes in that draft until Reid and KC traded up to grab him. Here's an article I dug up for you! LINK Oh, and I never downvoted you in any of your comments, just letting you know because I know some people are sensitive to that stuff, but I know you not, just sayin, you know.
