Correct. He chose a EV for a trip requiring gasoline
Any EV not able to use the Tesla supercharger network, there's really not a good argument to want take a road trip in.

You can't take an EV truck on a road trip. You can take your small car if you road trip isn't too far.

The fact that you can be this big of a raging dumbass and get a news story written about your dilemma that was 100% caused by being a moron makes me feel hopeless for this world.

These articles take the most ridiculous takes and blow it up.
I have a model Y that i paid new for 55k
i installed a charger with a upgraded panel for 2.3k
i commute 1 hour each way and can charge every night cheaper than gas.
I go from Boston to NYC no issues

The only case I can make for them is a pandemic or a run on gas where it's difficult to find fuel; and you have solar panels on your house to charge your vehicle for free. In a normal functioning society, I don't think they make sense. But when shite goes down, self reliance would be nice

Is your plan to stay in the northeast and stop every few hours? Then road tripping with a short range EV is fine.
Are you going to be in most other parts of the country where EV infrastructure is few and far between? Then you are fricking insane.
Densely populated areas are likely to have what you need to keep one of these running easily. Most of the country is not like that, just the northeast and some areas like coastal California.

Life is hard. Its harder when you are stupid. But congrats on being a "responsible citizen".
Also, I member when the F-150 lightning was the exact opposite of this and was actually a cool vehicle.

people probably said the same thing about trains. Why not just take wagons lol there isnt enough rail to cover smalltown USA

There are ALWAYS multiple charging routes and options, but I've never had to deviate from the original route plan. There are always stalls available to charge, and every charge is 15 minutes max.

Charge the car all day to play with it for 20 minutes.

True. He put a lot more faith in a new technology than was warranted.

The difference is that people were not calling to abolish wagons to force them onto rail before the technology was there.
Anyone who wants an EV can have them. But don’t act like the tech is there for this to be a total replacement for ICE outside of heavily populated areas.

Then the problem isn’t technology it’s government. Stop getting mad at the wrong thing. EV can do 98% of ice for 99% of people

So having to plan out a trip from beginning to end like planning the D-day invasion is a testament to the superiority of EVs currently?
In a Tesla, the entirety of planning is just putting the address in and clicking "navigate" and the car does all of the work for you, including backup plans if needed(though I've never needed to use one)

hell, filling up, dropping a deuce, buying something to eat, letting my dog shite in the dog park, etc. all in the same stop doesn't take 2 hours.

i go from 10% to 75% in 15 mins tops which is enough to use bathroom and get drinks

Just like the poster you responded to said. They have a time and place. Live in the city? Great. Any type of road trip? Not so much.
Not being obtuse, as I never argued that EVs don’t have a time and place. I’m not against EVs in any way. However, this thread is on the topic of an EV truck, and it’s a fair point to make that most people who be utilizing a pickup truck will not find an EV pickup truck to be practical for the typical uses of a pickup truck. One day, EV pickup trucks may get there, but they aren’t there yet.
Given how many people in the world seem to be pushing the urgency of switching to electric vehicles, it is fair to point out the current shortcomings of electric vehicles. Doing so doesn’t make one anti-EV, it just makes them a realist on the issue.
If you can’t see the point I’m making, then that’s your problem. There is no need to attempt to insult me.
