As i was finishing high school i had decided to go to a smaller college bc I didn’t want to be at LSU. I had a random conversation with a buddy’s mom one day and she talked me into going to LSU to pursue an Ag degree b/c her brother was doing well with one. I never even pursued the Ag degree, but I graduated from LSU and never left BR. I met my wife at the Chimes. My life would be nothing like it is today if not for that one conversation I had with some lady that probably didn’’t last 20-30 minutes..

Biggest show with that particular band was opening for Modern English at the Masquerade in ATL for a packed house. It was a shitshow. Deserves its own topic.

My name?

My buddy had seasons tickets to saints game and someone backed out and he last minute invited me to the game. It was 2019, day after we beat bama and I almost said no because of the hangover. I go to the game and we lose to falcons in one of the worst games ever. Fast forward and I run into some friends at Lucy’s and introduce myself to one of her friends. We started dating and have been married for an almost a year and expecting our first little one in a couple of weeks.

Got fired from my job and was pretty depressed. Was working in a grocery store to keep my mind busy in between jobs and saw a former classmate. Added her on Facebook and took almost half a year for me to grow some balls to message her. That was almost 7 years ago. We have been married for 4 years

Gaining the ability to drive. At one point in my life I thought it wasn't going to even be possible, then with electronic equipment that allows someone in a wheelchair to drive, it was a life changer.

My doctor told me that if the mind is capable then anything is possible. The body is controlled by the brain so if the body can't do certain things, the brain just needs different tools.

It gave me a different perspective on life.

To all:
I think we could use some consensus on what exactly TBE is. It’s not really coincidence or extreme but-fors right?

Is it turn a different corner? Or just made a specific decision? Or just something happened a certain way (without or with minimal choice)?

Like, “my friend died in a motorcycle accident and I was one of 3 people that could have ridden with him…” Not really TBE.

Lots of people telling cool stories but they aren't butterfly effect stories.

Example: "I was crippled but I learned to drive again"

Example: "I quit drinking and it made a positive effect in my life"

Yeah man, and y’all, not trying to be a dick, just thinking back if I have anything good to add and getting confused myself about what qualifies. Not just based on some wiki definition but the OP standard as well.

The butterfly effect is a reference to an old Japanese proverb that says a butterfly can flap it's wings on one coast, and that little bit of air flow can cause a tsunami on the opposite coast.

Just so you all know.

What tiny little insignificant thing (butterfly flap) causes a huge outcome (tsunami) on the other coast in your life?

When I was around 12 my best friends dad was a coach. Tried to get me to play baseball, me being a lefty and fairly sporty. I refused because I hated authority. Chose the slacker life and maybe coulda been a jock. I regret that I didn't at least try it out.

It's a proverb. Let's you figure out what proverbs are first. Throw in metaphors, similes, and analogies as well, before we start your workshop.

It's a proverb. The lesson is that every act or decision has an impact that extends beyond ourselves and that we should consider that in our daily lives. And you know, not ripple people to death with our selfish bullshite.

Why are you being so defensive (not to mention condescending)? I’m just trying to clarify here what you already said was confusing.

As yes, so much more helpful than that creepy deep guy. Let’s steer away from him.
So the inherent element is choice? And how that affects things later.
