Some might call it the left vs right, good vs evil, globalists vs patriots... but not everyone likes labels, and there is certainly going to be some overlap between these distinctions. What I do know is that there seems to be two major competing philosophies that are at odds in this world. Under those philosophies are big umbrellas that may encompass many factions whom may not even realize the side they are on.

One side: The view that people are inherently bad. This side recognizes the flawed nature of man, Christianity refers to as original sin. We are all fallen. This side sees the need to decentralize power, create as many checks and balances on power as possible, and that absolute power corrupts absolutely. Man cannot be entrusted with too much power or control. This side believes there is a God, one God, and that they are not God.

The other side: Believes people are basically good. We are not flawed, and men and women can be entrusted with all kinds of power as long as they say the right things. This side believes that there are certain people that are better than others, and some are basically gods who if we give enough power to them, the problems in society will go away. This side does not believe in God, or one true God, however they do believe in many gods or idols, and believe they can be god.

One side is all about libertarian "individualism". This includes both GOP's and Dems.

One side recognizes group/societal/civilizational interests.

I appreciate the thoughts but I think it's too simplistic.

I recognize the inherently sinful nature of man, but I don't think decentralized government is any sort of antidote to that.

I also don't think that those who favor large government (in your synopsis I think these are progressives) have any idealized view of man's ability for good or the inherent value of man.

IMO this would make more sense applied to our American worldviews in the 90s.

It's really just East vs. West again, with Christianity, Islam, Atheism, etc, spread out between all sides. The West has far more Christian values than the East though.

So you believe in a one global world government? If you feel that is evil, then you believe in some form of decentralization.

My main issue with certain libertarians is they seem to focus to much on local power, and not enough on national or global power.

Power will always fill a vacuum. We humans are like herd animals, we need leadership. My preference is for that leadership and power to be strongest at the most local level, and weaker on the way out like an inverse pyramid.

This creates as many checks and balances on centralized power as possible. And keeps absolute power in check.

If both sides are lying, then what is the truth?

One side is living for today, and believes this existence is all there is. They tend to have the mindset that there is no God, so there are no eternal consequences for their actions.

The other side is living for eternity, and that this life isn't all there is. This side knows knows that there is an absolute morality that never changes and is true across all space and time.

The later side tends to be less selfish, more rational and less psychotic.

That wrap up sentence right there shows how brainwashed you are about a political party having a religious philosophy. The Rs, I'm guessing that who is referenced here, are not a Pius bunch of Judeo-Christian voters.

The conservative movement is all about $ and power. Not righteousness.

I dont think there is a truth when it comes to worldviews. Its relative and there is a lot more than just two.

Meh.... On one side, there is a role for central government. Without unity you have for instance, Africa. Many countries with no central rule and nothing to hold them together.

On the other side, I believe in personal freedom and liberty without undue pressure from government hindering this.

Our forefathers left us the Constitution. When followed and respected allows both sides to exist. It's what allowed America to be great and lead the world for many years. Now we see the left attempting to erode the very traditional values and national pride which made us great. We can all be different but be unified by our love for America, without this we are disunified and weak which our enemies will attack and exploit. This is happening now. We need leadership to change and soon if we hope to pass American greatness on to our children and grandchildren.
Leftist are and will continue to destroy America.

Right = Individualism (not populism)

Left = Collectivism (mob rule)

Half the people who think they are on the right absolutely are not.

It still amazes me that a section of the population thinks a flawed, self centered, egotistical politician who lies and cheats will somehow put the public’s interest first when making policies.

How were there even competing political parties back in the day when only people that should be allowed to vote were allowed to vote?

Nowadays it’s like people that should be allowed to vote and their wives vs idiots who shouldn’t be allowed to vote

I bet things were so nice back then
