Starting a fight thread for this one. Been waiting for this matchup for 5 years now… it’s finally happening tomorrow.
For all the belts and has all the makings of an instant classic. Two dudes that don’t talk too much and actually throw their hands. Should be fireworks.

Great matchup. We are in Captiva and seeing how devistating the hurricane damage is from last September not sure I’ll be able to watch. I will follow threads here.

This should be the best fight of the past decade.
I truly believe Spence at his best is the best pound for pound fighter in the world, his fundamentals and how he plays chess in the ring is second to none. But… it’s too much for me to bet against Crawford.
I’m just stoked for this one all around. I was going to be in Vegas this weekend but had to move it to next weekend and I’m still salty I can’t make this fight in person.

Went to the Spence Vs Ugas fight and told Mrs TTown (no pics) afterwards that I'm going to the Spence Vs Crawford fight once it's made even if I have to sell one of the kids to get tickets

Ring Magazine has its own belt. It's void of politics that you'll find in the other sanctioning bodies and most of the time is lineal. So this champion is often the man who beat the man all the way back to the inception of the division. Holder of this belt is usually regarded as the rightful champion by fans and a lot of media regardless of who holds the other 37 titles.
Sanctioning bodies and promoters can't make money off of it, so it isn't promoted like the other belts.

I slightly favor Crawford, but it will probably be a real close fight.
With the power both these guys have, all it will take is one guy getting careless and a couple good combinations could decide the outcome.
Between the two, they have a combined 67 fights with 52 of them ending in KO. Someone's "0" has to go unless this fight ends in a draw.

I'll take Bud Crawford in the long run. Both guys agreeing to this is great. These days no one wants to fight through the politics to get it done.

The reason great fights are so seldom made are not so much about politics but about trying to preserve the all-important "0" on the fighter's record.
For some reason the powers that be think a loss will damage the fighters earning ability or chances for big fights. Didn't work out that way when Duran, Leonard, Hearns, Hagler, Ali, Holmes, Norton, Shavers, Foreman etc. were plying their trade in the square circle.
They fought who was in front of them and gave the fans what they deserved and ducked nobody.
None of their legacies are tarnished because of a few losses each.

Too many belts which are politics. Some of these fighters are running scared for the reason you mentioned.
Floyd Mayweather was a running fool and our illustrious Heavyweight, is running from a Ukrainian champion he should be running to for legacy. Good grief if he isn't retiring every 5 minutes he wants to fight guys in other sports. I miss Manny.

That's why I respect Canelo Alvarez. He is not a big guy and started his career fighting at 139 lbs. and has fought as high as 175 where he got just a shade too out of his range with Bivol. But, he's dominated the middleweight and super middleweight division and he fights what his people put in front of him.
And yes, far too many organizations, belts and I'll throw in weight divisions that are separated by as little as 3-4 lbs.

Reminds me of the old glory days when the best fought the best! Sugar Ray fights - Leonard-Hearns, Leonard-Benitez, Leonard-Duran(twice), and Leonard-Hagler. Hit Man Hearns fights - Hearns-Leonard, Hearns-Hagler(slugfest), and Hearns-Duran. Marvelous Marvin fights - Hagler-Leonard, Hagler-Hearns, Hagler-Mugabi. Hands of Stone fights - Duran-Leonard(twice), Duran-Hearns, and Duran-Palomino.
these guys were the best of the best, legendary fighters in their primes fighting each other all around the same time. That's how it should be, the best should always fight the best, but there's too much politics in today's boxing business. But I'm happy they made this fight happen! I'm a go with Spence in this fight, may the best man WIN!
