Have you noticed the semaglutide being any less effective than tirzepatide?
It is a huge difference.
With Mounjaro I had zero appetite and felt uncomfortably bloated 24/7.
With the Semaglutide I still have an appetite, but it is for sure decreased. And I am no where near bloated or as constipated.
I wanted to try both so I could be a source of reference for patients.

Here is an article in the New England Journal of Medicine that explains the differences between the two.

Tirzepitide appears to offer improved weight loss for diabetics. Granted at a higher dosage than semaglutide.
Edited to try to fix the link

What I am hearing, here & elsewhere, unless there is a diagnosis of diabetes, both are usually not covered & are expensive. Pharmacy said that Mounjaro is hard to find & a $300 copay, if there is coverage, is just about the lowest she's heard.

You can source it from Defy for <$300/month as a weekly injection (various g/2 mL and 4 injections at 0.5 mL/injection). Reimbursement can be from HSA/FSA.

I prescribe through a compounding pharmacy and from them it’s $400 for a 3cc vile. It can last a couple of months.

Take it forever or figure out how to consistently eat a reasonable diet. Guess it depends on the individual.

Attia
Be careful with these as you may be losing just as much muscle mass as fat. Which in turn will affect the amount of calories you burn at rest, or your Basal Metabolic Rate. More muscle = more calories you burn at rest. Which is why people could blow back up to fatter than before when/if you get off. Of course if you stay on it forever, that's another story.
IMO the only way to tell if you are losing fat is to get a Dexa scan before/during/after taking it to see if you're actually losing the majority fat or muscle. Peter describes it pretty well in the video above. And incorporate plenty of strength training.

i'm not his patient but using both sema and TRT right now and have for the last 3 months.

Did you start TRT after sema? Did it affect your energy levels and/or weight loss?

Since Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) is a peptide, why not purchase it from a peptide manufacturer like Peptide Sciences? It sells there for about 1/6 of the per-fill drug cost.

They could be selling water and you’d have no clue at all.

I’ve been on TRT for somewhere around 11 yrs, 150 ml/week. Started sema about 3 months ago: I had two shoulder replacement surgeries last year and wasn’t able to into the gym until March of this year, and my BMI ballooned to 31% and I’m hypertensive so I qualified for Wegovy. I’ve since lost 11 lbs, but my body shape has changed tremendously due to my BMI dropping. I’m at 184, my goal is 170…my next visit will increase my sema dose to 170. So I expect further progress.
In sum, putting muscle back on has slowed the weight loss, but the goal is lower BMI, lower BP and body aesthetics. And focusing on that I’m very pleased with the way things are going.

Worked great for about the first month cutting my appetite. Did drop my A1C down to 5.1 though.
