If it being in the middle of nowhere doesn’t bother you go ahead. I love the club and course, but when it was time to be honest with myself, I never would have gone due to the hassle of getting there

Not a member but have played it a few times with one. The course is nice, but man it’s out there.

I live on the east side of Mandeville. Have been looking at joining a club for a while, and MH was one of the ones I contacted. The course is great but I could envision myself having to make myself go play there. It is just not easy to get to. The rates were in line with other clubs, a little high on initiation fees to be that far away- but I assume they have a high attrition rate in the first 12 months.

Wound up joining another club in MV/Covington instead.

We looked at it, played there but went with Beau Chene instead. Just offered more of what we were looking for; liked privately owned rather than assessments, no interest in making that drive multiple times per week, dining is better at BC, better activities, social scene, etc.

If I had to say which course is consistently in better shape I would say Money Hill (not by alot) but I don't think it's worth the extra money and distance especially when you factor in so many other things.

I joined BC because of the convenience for me as i commute from Covington to Nola for work. I liked the idea of 2 courses and the neighborhood and there were a ton of young kids there which made me happy for my boys. The 2 course option was a big deciding factor for me as well. But if we’re talking which is the better course it is MH and it’s not even close.

Yeah I would be driving in so would be a commute for me. But I often find myself driving to play golf, because in town everything's so packed it's unenjoyable. It took us 5 hours to complete around at Santa Maria. Absolutely ridiculous. Also my oldest boy goes to school in Hammond so I figured it might be fun to take him out here

Oh man that’s a drive for you. Money Hill offers some sort of “Out of Town” membership so if you reside 50-60 miles outside of it you get a decent discount.

I was curious about this. My folks are building a house not too far from MH, giving me a reason to get over there. That or get them to join

social scene,

We’ve been members out here for over 6 years, and while there are some things that could be improved, the social scene is not one of them. This is a party community. Always fun stuff going on, tastings, parties, special events, etc….I haven’t been a member at Beau Chene, but I’d be surprised if it were any better than here. Just my 2¢. Another golf course is in the works but not imminent. There is a market going in at the Highway 21 entrance which is going to be nice.

Yeah that was my initial draw was it I don't think that's very expensive for what you're getting. And we have a family of seven and five of us golf. One of our boys lives in Hammond so it's not that far from him. Our 9-year-old is currently getting lessons from Rob Noel. I'm thinking it makes pretty good sense for us with a large family. Every time I take the crew golfing now it's 200 bucks and then we're dealing with terrible pace of playing in Baton Rouge

I really think this is a solid deal, considering we typically drive to the islands in plaquemine which is about 40 minutes, or Beaver Creek, or Carter. I know this is further but I think we'll get more bang for our buck

Was also told being a member at MH, they would be able to get us on at other private clubs from time to time, SQ, BRCC, CCL..... It sounds like a good deal considering all

The one thing about Money Hill that is really cool is that a large number of PGA pros set up camp the week before the PGA Tourney in NOLA to get coached by Rob Noel. Several years ago I met Cam Smith, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Scott Verplank, and Ernie Els out there. It was weird hitting on the practice range next to Ernie Els and wondering what in the hell am I doing out here after watching him hit ball after ball.

My parents have lived in MH for 12 years and are every day golfers. First I’m hearing of this.
