vice YouTube I was watching documentary about jazzland in new Orleans, and they are talking to people who are supposed to be from New Orleans, and none of them actually have a new Orleans accent. I was born in new Orleans, but I haven't been there in about 20 years, but I can still pick up a new Orleans accent from a mile away, none of these people had one, but maybe they just don't really exist anymore, that is the case in Texas, I've been living in Texas for over twenty years, and very rarely do I met anyone that has a Texas accent anymore

Which one? New Orleans has as many distinct accents as New York City (similar neighborhoods due to being a port of entry).

Yes definitely though I agree it’s not as prevalent as it was 20 years ago

You must not get out of the metro areas very much. Go to Deep East Texas or West Texas and report back. The Texas accent is very much alive. Get outside the triangle area you’ll see.

Love this dude on OTB. Look forward to him on there weekly. He’s as yat as it gets. It’s refreshing to hear when you don’t live there anymore.

A buddy of mine is from old Metairie he sounds just like this dude. It’s such a distinct dialect.

I worked for a guy from the Channel many years ago in a furniture store. Dude said go get the "bar stools" from the trailer. I seriously had to stop and ask myself if he said "bar stools" or "bosch tools". They sounded the exact same.
