I’m trying to be a better putter and specifically make better reads. I’ve looked a little bit into Aimpoint putting and it makes conceptual sense to me. Has anyone ever been to an Aimpoint clinic? What are your thoughts?

My personal opinion is its really fricking annoying getting paired up with this shite:

Six foot put guy:
Step...feel...step feel...step feel...step feel...finger up
Blows it three feet past a foot wide.

Step feel...

I don’t understand it at all. It does seem to help some people, but it looks stupid.

There are a ton of other ways to read putts better.

From everything I’ve read the slow AimPoint annoying guy does it wrong and makes everyone else look bad.

They’ve done studies and AimPoint putters are faster at reading putts than regular putters.

At least that’s what the internet tells me

Watch some of John Daly's videos on putting. His approach is badass and dude was actually really solid even in the mid 2000s. I think he was top 5 around 2005.

Half of putting is confidence, going with your initial read and understanding that anything outside of 10 feet, your chances of make are like 40% for a TOUR PRO. Accept that and don't 2 putt.

Essentially grip and rip but on the greens and don't be one of those d-bags.

I played with a guy and he putted unbelievably well using aim point. I think, like anything, it takes practice. And I couldn't imagine being a once a month golfer trying to remember what 1 percent feels like.

I can’t get behind Aim Point, I have found that when I am putting my best I just putt to the image I see in my mind. Sure I read the putt but I pick a spot and putt to a picture. I even quit using putters with lines. The more artistic and reactionary I make it the better my feel is.

Look up non linear putting. There’s a couple good articles that will make you even better.

Mike Shannon is the best at it. LINK

My instructor teaches me aim point and is an instructor and it has changed my putting dramatically.

Please don't. This game is slow enough.

Once again, not trying to simp for AimPoint, I don’t do it I was just asking about it. But the notion that it is slower than regular green reading has been proven false

Last thing I do when practicing putting is the clock drill, my kid and I do it like a game of knock out. First one to make all the puts around the Clock wins

It can't be proven false either way. It is an individual doing the read and everyone will take different times.

Coaches and people who use it. Granted they all use it so who knows

I feel like slow players are slow players, so if a slow player uses AimPoint it’s probably slow.

I use it. The amount of tour players, college players, and competitive juniors using it speaks for itself. I did a clinic at spanish oaks in Austin. It does not affect my pace of play at all, but you do have to be intentional with your time when on the green.

And yet putting percentages remain exactly the same.

It's just the flavor of the week, just like Rickie's putter.

Do what you want but spending all that time to shoot over par just seems silly.

And shocker, Adam Scott, the dude that invented using the most ridiculous illegal putter is doing it.

Golf is the most absurdly full of shite game on the planet. "here, using a broom stick is totally fine but how dare you move your ball out of a player made divot in the middle of the fairway after hitting a perfect shot!!!!!"

It’s not any slower than a guy kneeling behind his ball, squinting, looking in every direction, standing, walking to the other side of the hole, kneeling, squinting, then back to the ball, get over it, hit it 2 feet by and 10” in the opposition direction he thought it was breaking then standing confused on how it could ever break in that direction. Slow people are slow and fast players are fast.

Not even close to the same.
