I think it's a little presumptuous to just slot Jones into the lineup next season.

He's got a lot of work to do at the plate, especially without having as much protection as he had with the lineup he was in this past season.

ETA: Downvoters clearly aren't paying attention to what's going on with Jones in the Cape right now.

Jones will be in the line up next year. He’s getting the Ty Floyd 2022 off-season treatment right now from this board. Sad.

He slashed .304/.426/.640 as a true freshman with 14 HR and 45 RBI in 55 games in the toughest conference in the country. He is 100% hitting in the middle of the order on opening day.

It's been 8 at bats.

He’s a freshman man. The way he was hitting early in the season was insane for a freshman.

The jump from HS to SEC/Cape Level pitching is huge.

He will mash when the light comes on.

Y’all really don’t think our coaches will work with Jones on hitting off speed? Dude doesn’t just luck into the season he had last year in the first half. He will be just fine come spring some of y’all don’t know a lick of baseball and it shows

7 AB’s with zero amount of work on his swing.
What did you expect him to do in a week?

Jones will develop. Dude can rake and he’s huge. Oh, and it’s July.

I don't.

I think its presumptive to think these guys will be 3,4,5 though.

Dude hit over .300 with 14 jacks as a true freshman and played about half the games. He will improve. I think it's idiotic to think he won't be in the lineup

The reason Jones was benched was that we were the most loaded offensive team in the country. If he played for any other team he would have kept starting and finished with 20+ homers. We were in the unique situation to have the ability to sit him and play another stud which almost no other team could have done. Honestly the same could have been said about Kling to a lesser extent. They just happen to play for one of the only teams deep enough to bench them.
