Anyone remember their 1st game in Tiger Stadium?
Oct 1969. Best friend's Dad brought us to #9 LSU vs #14 Auburn. It was the ABC game of the week. LSU blocked an XP and a FG at the end and won 21-20
My Dad got three tickets from a LaPlace State Trooper and we picked up his son or nephew on the way up Airline Hwy from Kenner. I believe his name was Joey Tamburella ? We sat in the SEZ. Jimmy Gilbert threw a halfback option pass to Andy Hamilton for a TD on the first play. I believe the late XP was blocked by Bill Thomason and George Bevan. Great memories. "Sugar Sugar" by the Archies played on the radio on the way home :)

1979: 11 years old with my dad. I think we played Rice . My dad and I sat up in the west Upper deck. The playing field looked so awesome and crisp. Watching the pregame kickers and the balls traveling through the air. It was a magical time and a gift because very few games were on television.
I remember Sid Crocker on the speakers.
Fun time coming down the west side escalator.
September 1979 47-3 LSU. The previous week we destroyed Colorado at Boulder 44-0. The week after the Rice game was maybe the loudest game in DV ever - 17-12 loss to USC.

I believe my first game was the game they filmed crowd shots of everybody’s all American.
Since then, I’ve been to countless, with 97 Florida and 2019 OU and 2020 Clemson being my favorites.
That was Nov. of 1987 against Alabama :( Hodson was hurt and the Gumpneck Things ruined a possible NC season.

Anyone remember their 1st game in Tiger Stadium?
Colorado in 1974, went for my 15th birthday. LSU won 42-14 and did not complete a pass. (Ran the lovely VEER offense) I was hoarse for 3 days, and was obsessed even though I eventually graduated from Troy, I will always love my Tigers.
As John Ferguson so eloquently exclaimed: "Carl Otis KAO Trimble..." That was the season opener, and big things were expected after that game; though it did not turn out to be a good season :( Lost to Georgia or A&M or somebody the next week...

Yep it was the 04 Oregon State rain delay game. Streakers galore and Serna forgot how to kick.
Yep. It rained before the game and then the sun partially came out. Crazy dude ran totally in the buff onto the field and was caught immediately. We won 22-21 in Jamarcus' debut I believe. Ironically I think Serna went on to win the Lou Groza award in one of the following seasons at Oregon State....

Yeah I was only 9 when I was there. I only remembered the end. After I made that post I went look up highlights of the game for nostalgia. I wish I didn't, because I forgot how bad we kicked their arse all game and kept fricking up.
Missed FG off the goalpost
Missed FG off the crossbar
Missed PAT
An interception bounces off our DB's hands and into the Bama WR's for their first TD
Having to settle for a FG at the 3 yard line
Throw an interception at the goal line
Still up 16-7 with 5 minutes left when we blocked their FG. Then the offense can't do anything and has to punt and Bama scores 2 TDs in 2 minutes with that onside kick. Probably a good thing I was just a kid, and the Rant didn't exist yet.
1998. I kept waiting for Rod Serling to walk out and say I was in the Twilight Zone. It wasn't the way we lost, it was WHO we lost to - The Skoal Drool Possum Rectum Gumpneck Things. What made it worse is that it would have been our first win over bama in DV since 1969. Unbelievably, the following year Josh Booty doesn't see 2 LSU WRs wide open in the bama end zone for the winning TD, and instead trys a QB sneak and was stopped :(

1969 vs Auburn. George Bevan blocks an extra point and we win 21-20.

#1 ranked USC 1979. The phantom face mask game. The greatest O line in history of college football and a Heisman running back. LSU went toe to toe with them and beat them on the field even though the score said different. I almost came to tears after that game as an 18 yr old but I became a Tiger fan for life that day and Tiger Stadium became a place that no opponent wanted to see. Was as loud as any game I've been to and held probably 20,000 less fans.

I think it was against Ole Miss in 1986. A friend's Dad took a few of us to the game. It was a pretty big deal because we lived two hours away from Tiger Stadium. I don't remember much (according to Google LSU lost that one), outside of us making fun of the lady a row in front of us. She was decked out in all LSU gear (including earrings) and yelling a lot, and we were joking how she had a dildo with the name of players on it. We were high school sophomores at the time, so that was about the height of our wits.

I was 7 years old and watched LSU get beat by Mississippi State. Even though they lost, I was hooked. I remember a fan holding up a "frick Tulane" bumper sticker while walking out.

Bama 14 LSU 7. Nov 1971. First time seeing the Goodyear blimp live. I wish they’d bring it back.
