B/c corporate America has decided that it no longer matters if a company is profitable. Now they slavishly believe profits must be exponentially higher every single year or else the company is a failure and needs to shed costs.

It all started when they hired Michael Smith and Jemele Hill to talk down to their viewers and force cultural issues down our throats instead of covering sports.

They went hard but Wilbon and Tony started it along with the sports reporters (Hill started there as well)

I didn’t think you were this dumb. They didn’t hire PM to continue the same model.

They are laying off massive amounts of people and hiring PM to change the direction of programming. PM is a desperation move.

If people were still watching, they wouldn’t be cutting costs. The “boycott” is obviously working.

I don’t really see it as “boycott”. I just lost interest. I don’t feel like being preached to as a form of entertainment.

Why did the people that are telling you they stopped watching sports center and other editorial programming because of political and cultural war issues stop watching that programming?

Even if it was 100% free of any kind of politics Sportscenter in 2023 serves no real purpose and has no shot at bringing in numbers no matter how it's presented.

There is no point to waiting 30-60 minutes to see 20 seconds of highlights that might show one play for each team when you can easily get 5-15 minute individual team focused highlight packages on YouTube mirrored to your tv for free.

I heard a couple of years ago that a lot of the major brands TV contracts are due up in 2-3 years which is around the corner.

Rumor is all the random streaming services are about to get in the sports game and it’ll become a bidding war. ESPN has had a monopoly on NFL and NCAA football tv and is looking to potentially give some of that up and go back to being a sports news outlet without actually owning the sports.

It really is this simple. Lester and his fellow progressives can't comprehend this because they agree with the preaching.

not my cup of a tea either. But if you watch College Gameday or Wrestling or are in the twitter spaces, you've seen him before.

He had a $120mil contract with Fan Duel that I assume ESPN bought out.

See, its kind of hard for ESPN to go broke if you only boycott the 30min mid-afternoon show and then sit down and watch a 4hr college football game.

To Lester’s credit, he is a sports junkie. His knowledge of sports is deep.

But he is dead wrong here. The ESPN ship is sinking and it’s because they ran off Gen X and the boomers.

You are right. I forgot about that. Michael and Jamele ruined espn for me. They constantly bashed white people while blacks could do no wrong.

Now you need a math lesson. Sports Center is a daily show.

5-7 hours a week. I watched a 3 hour baseball game last week. I haven’t watched a minute since.

I’m not tuning out 30 minutes a day and watching 4 hours a day.

I watch 6 or so football games and a handful of baseball games.

I no longer watch any daily programming.

I thought you people understood ratios?

I sincerely do not remember the last time i watched something on ESPN that wasn't live sports. There is a world of people outside of your echo chamber that just think the programming is bad for other reasons, mainly entertainment factor.

Bad product
Cost too much money.

It’s not what they want it is what the people who pay your bills want.
