Probably because Disney is about to sell it off. Or that ESPN is trash now. Take your pick

I hope it’s because they are hemorrhaging money and are near folding. Someone else will pick up the live sports. Screw the mouse.

1. Dying model. New Information age allows us to get up to date info on the sports we like. No need to sit through 15 minutes of soccer and wnba highlights.
2. They got political which turned off a big portion of their base.
3. Too many huge salaries for celebrity announcers when 90% of them are vanilla.

Wish the SEC had stayed with CBS. ESPN going to up fees, streaming costs, etc. Going to get expensive trying to view SEC games in 2024.

It all started when they hired Michael Smith and Jemele Hill to talk down to their viewers and force cultural issues down our throats instead of covering sports.
ESPN thought they were bigger than game.
Boomers and Gen X tuned out.
The millennials and Zoomers only care about getting neck tattoos and cutting off their sexual organs. They aren’t interested in sports unless it’s Lia Thomas.

I used to be a daily viewer. It takes an LSU sporting event that I really want to watch to tune in now.

Epsn is so terrible so people don't want to use that shite platform and then they lose money

Changing the the model from traditional commentary & reporting. Look at the deal they just gave McAfee. I assume they will want to build out from that type of stuff

It’s a terrible business model. Why pay overpriced hacks to spew opinions? People just want live sports. Have live sports and sports highlight shows. Nobody gives a frick about the opinions being put out there by their overpaid “analysts”.

They went political instead of sports. Hate to see it :)

Disney is under major cost constraints due to the massive losses on Disney+.
They’ve announced massive cost cutting across all of the media business units, but are leaving the parks alone because they are profitable.
ESPN is still very profitable, but the model is changing rapidly. They are milking their cash cow but in the process rationalizing everything, which means massive layoffs.

Disney has been run in the ground. Name the last Disney blockbuster movie? Even the Marvel stuff is woke as hell now.
