What do people who support Democrats get in return for their investment in them?

For the wealthy “do gooder” they obviously get to feel better about themselves as if they are doing something that makes them feel elitist.
For those with special interests, the single issue voters, they get to have someone who champions their little special interest
However, for the vast amount of Democrat voters out there, ESPECIALLY those on the lower end of the economic scale, I simply can’t understand how any of them can see what’s before them and think it’s benefitting them in the least rather than causing them great harm, especially as it pertains to the economy, skyrocketing inflation with no end in sight because they keep printing more money and driving the value of the dollar into the gutter, a shite housing market, and higher cost for everything like child care, etc.
Where’s the big win, because I just don’t see it. Why oh why do they continue to vote to stay on the government plantation rather than look for something that actually benefits their condition?

Some worry about losing welfare or food stamps. Others have been brainwashed by the mainstream media.

So basically, staying on the government plantation and continuing to buy from the company store.

Then you're blind.
SSI
Food stamps
WIC
Section 8
Pell grants
EITC
Cell phones
Internet
Unemployment
There are about a million programs available to those who want to live off of the taxpayer.

Not blind. I see that. What I don’t see is their lives ever improving for the better, especially in quality of life or living in areas that are actually desirable. Wages increase, the government prints more money, and they pay for it with higher rent, higher food cost, and higher cost of living in general, which in the end is basically just a wash and repeat, and they never seem to be able to come to the obvious conclusion that it’s all just one big game that they never escape from and never win. In the end, it’s just a vote to stay on the plantation.

This! They live their entire lives, never having to work. Every day is Saturday for them. They can do whatever they want, any day, all day.
It’s no wonder that they get into all kinds of mischief like drug deals or all those kids due to having all of that free time.
Now, they never amass any wealth or security, but they don’t have to work. And, by now, it’s in its third generation of recipients.
They have chosen a life of leisure and just skating by over a life of work and the American dream.
Maybe this is the new American dream?

Human nature is not to delay gratification and get ahead. It is to get the easiest calories and shelter that you can procure. You are wondering why people would display perfectly natural and normal behavior.

I’m actually wondering why people haven’t been able to see that they’ve NEVER left master’s plantation, and their overseers have the exact same goal they’ve always had in mind, to keep them segregated from the rest of society, and they’ve kept them in that place for hundreds of years now, but they vote to keep it in place, yet bitch that they’re being subjugated when it’s their very actions themselves that do that to them.
A vote for a Democrat is basically a vote for economic segregation now and forever.

Perhaps it’s not as much about what the Democrats promise as it is the left’s practice of painting a grim picture of what the Republicans will do to destroy them if they get in power. Fear tactics.
Also, in certain segments of society there are “community leaders” who are the pied pipers of the voters within their “jurisdiction”. Some of the minority churches immediately come to mind. Thus perhaps for those particular groups they really aren’t even breaking it down for themselves - “trust the preachers’ judgment.” All of which is obviously questionable in its integrity, to put it mildly.

You could ask that about a lot of poor Republicans as well. They’re not “voting in their best interests” but rather in the interests of billionaires who hate them

More reliance on government and less on themselves.
Posted on 6/30/23 at 7:06 am to Mike da Tigah
It's easier, it's guaranteed, it takes less time, etc. etc.

Aside from the 'government parasites' the only benefit from supporting Democrat cult paradigms come from getting the 'feeling' of 'moral superiority' over those 'heathens' who just 'refuse to see the light'
But that only works within a community of narrow minded narcissists who think their own agitprop is the manifest destiny of nature itself.
Works best with sheltered souls who have never been punched in the face with real life.
And only works with those who have no REAL responsibility for how things actually work.

you are gonna need to provide an example of this type person
your description doesn't even come close to any property of any conservative I know.
And if you only 'example' is some KKKer sitting by himself out in his rural barn, then you will need to find more than a half dozen of them in the entire world.
Otherwise you sound like a BLM supporter who thinks George whatsisname is some sort of saint.

The amazing thing is Democrats are the party of Billionaires.
You dipshits are 50 years behind the times.
Stop using vapid, shitty talking points that died 30 years ago.
What happens when you push tons of money to poor people? economically speaking.

This is the number one characteristic - but that is not the only major factor.
They have to also believe that they are UNABLE to do otherwise and they have to have all basic human intuition of 'doing what is best for our children' totally subjugated. They have to believe their offspring can not possibly do better than what they themselves have 'settled for.'
This is the one trait that has seperated mankind from the rest of the animal kingdom - the unwavering desire to make a better FUTURE for their offspring.
DEMOCRATs cannot tolerate that basic characteristic of proper human nature - making things better in the FUTURE. Democrats can ONLY point to 'ills of the past' and make that the standard for the future - and to make damned sure that only the 'chosen few' can escape that fate < namely themselves and THEIR own descendants - the rest of mankind just has to stay on a continually lowering plane of existence.
and as I have said in the past - DEMOCRAT would be MUCH HAPPIER to be in TOTAL CONTROL of some shite-hole 3rd world civilization than have to COMPETE in an ever escalating FIRST WORLD economic success.
