I guess the Edmund Fitzgerald wasn't as big as the song made it out to be
Lake Superior, not Lake Erie.

Never gives up her dead,
When the skies of November turn gloomy".

didn’t it actually sink in Lake Erie?

Imagine all the shite they pull out of there
Not to mention all the snakes and stuff. Couldn’t pay me enough to do that.

If done right, this will be great for the city and the university.

Yeah. They make those look like scenic views of Rivendell from LOTR. Currently, today reminds me more like Mordor.

Nah, it was Lake Superior.
The SS G. P. Griffith was on Eerie and resulted in 10x as many lives as it was a passenger vessel and the Edmund Fitzgerald was a cargo ship.

The text implies that the dredged material will all be used on site to expand the bird sanctuary and provide fill around the edges where needed for paths, Etc.
Even the more limited dredging from the '80s pulled out enough create some sizable patches of land and a commensurate reduction in the size of the lakes.
Surely some of the dredged material will have to be hauled off site, considering how much more material will be recovered?
Also, the catch Basin for the sediment, while effective, will fill up. It will require regular maintenance/clean out.

My first year of law school in the 80s, I wanted to try out these new plastic baits called sluggos before my bass fishing trip and I lived by the lakes so I went out and tried them out one afternoon just too see how they worked. I caught 4-5 bass in the 2-4 pound range in like 45 minutes. It was unreal as I wasn’t even really intending to catch anything I just wanted to try out the baits as I had never used anything like them before. (Florida Bass stocking program or something)
Maybe they can do that again. Hell if 20 foot deep put in hybred stripe bass too.

Combo of fertilizer run off from city park golf course and shallow water with sediment buildup over time.

It’ll never be ready in time.

They left out the hood rats lurking in the bushes with a 9mm.

it’ll never be ready in time and will look like shite once completed

In the 1980’s, I think they found more cypress stumps and knees than they anticipated, thus slowing down the process and causing it to be unfinished.

as a child we used to fish and catch snakes and small turtles. there are logger heads living in the lakes as well.
i have fond memories of spending lots of time in and around the lakes.
cutoff blue jeans. no shoes and no t-shirts.

I know they won’t but I would hope they put them stumps back in the water after dredging.
Nothing like cypress stumps to attract fish to catch.
