If I’m going to be with a grocery clerk from Rouse’s, she better look good and not have kids because I’m clearly not marrying her for the money. Not a lot of career growth potential there without hitting school or OnlyFans.
one of my friends and coworkers in college is one of the smartest guys i've ever met. valedictorian, UIL state champ in mathematics and Calculator, 4.0, got his masters, and moved up quickly and was making 6 figures in government work by the time he was 24 (worthwhiledly in my opinion.)
bought a house outright due to saving everything from college. he's a 4-6 in the looks department. not a troll by any means but not a great/terrible catch. he married an IRL 6.5-7/OT 5 (she looks a lot like the Pearl girl in the thread that said women need to know their roles yesterday) who had no college and worked at target.
he's incredibly high achieving and just wanted a simple wife.

That still met my criteria for a win because she was attractive and likely had no kids.
High achievers are always in demand.
If you are a low achiever, it isn’t a deal breaker provided you have qualities that make up for it in some way.
The problem comes when you have the “if you can’t take me at my worst, you don’t deserve me at my best!” types.
If you hear a comment like that, they tend to be high drama, don’t have a lot of skills to support themselves, yet think they are deserving of a millionaire to take care of them.
That may as well have “Divorce with child support” tattooed all over them.

I know people like this. I really think some men just prefer it. And I can certainly see where it might be easier/less stress.
I also know a couple of guys that married women from foreign countries they met while living in their countries - not like mail order bride thing. Neither of these women spoke English well (so no sarcasm, shared jokes, etc). Always thought it must be so difficult to connect on any sort of deep level that way.
My guess was that it must just be for the reasoning you give. Simple, easy, less headache.
