We have 3 errors in 5 games, 2 by Thompson and 1 by Floyd(bad pickoff throw). The only other poor defensive play I can recall was the way too soft flip from Thompson on a DP attempt.

Morgan has been Morgan, really nothing else needs to be said. But the OF positioning and tracking has been perfect, the communication between the OF and IF has been perfect and that shouldn’t be taken lightly considering how shallow the OF has been playing. And Tommy White has honestly been a vacuum at 3B.

Very impressive.

The OF defense has been flawless. White has been a rock at 3B. Morgan is the best defensive 1B LSU has maybe ever had. Even Dugas has made some nice plays at 2B.

Unfortunately, I'm still convinced Thompson and the former Alabama coach keep doubling-down with bets on LSU to lose. Even if you forget the two late errors (on what should have been 3rd outs in two close games), the rest of his defense has been shakey...at best. There's been more than one soft-toss to second on what could have been DPs and the throws to first have still been a bit of an adventure.

Thompson has messed up a few DPs with his soft toss. I don’t understand why he hasn’t worked on that this late in his career. It’s crucial.

Thompson has also had some clutch defensive plays. The soft flip was him playing out of position — almost every gaffe that happens does so when him and Dugas are swapped.

What does playing in a different position have to do with the way he gets the ball over to 2nd?

Morgan’s play was the finest/most crucial play I have ever seen by a college first baseman. It was executed to perfection and one very big reason we are still in Omaha..

Morgan absolutely gets the lion's share of the credit there - no doubt - but how about Millazo's end of the deal! The whole thing was perfection and I can't get over how fast it happened. Heck, it was still fast in slow motion! ha.

This isn’t true. It’s happened a lot this year when he was playing at short. Him and Dugas switching has nothing to do with it. But yes he’s been a beast on defense overall. The under hand toss needs to be eliminated unless he’s on his feet moving towards the bag.

Tommy was CLUTCH last night at 3rd.

Rewatch reminded my how many great plays he made in that game.

We gave him a lot of shite around the Kentucky series but Jobert has turned himself into a really nice outfielder. Obviously he isn't a plus defender but he now he takes good angles and makes the plays you expect him to make with ease.

Thompson’s has bailed us out more defensively these last few games than he has screwed us…. Offensively is a different story

Doesn't seem to be mentioned much, but Tanks' third base play has been awesome. Catching line drives. Fielding hard hit grounders. And throws that seem to be 100 MPH and always right on the money. I don't know as much as many of you so please tell me, was he known for being a great fielder in addition to his obvious hitting prowess?

I feel like his throws have always been money but his glove was suspect for much of the season. He definitely figured it out at the right time.

Body position and mechanics. I prefer a soft throw that gets the lead runner than a hard throw that is off target. I'm not sure if that was JTs thinking there or not, that was a pretty weak throw. He also may have been thinking he was serving up a ball for Dugas to barehand and throw without the glove transfer, but if he was he needed it to be placed a little better.

I like the shift they do in terms of the range Thompson has but it is limiting if they need to turn a DP and Thompson is moving toward first base.

The whole play was perfectly executed! When I began to watch the play unfold, I didn’t think we had a chance of getting the runner.

The walk off was indeed sweet, but that wouldn’t even have had a chance of happening if not for the play at the plate.

Mostly true, but in one of the games, Morgan made a pretty crucial bad play (not sure if it was an "error") that resulted in an inning in a dicey situation getting extended. It was a grounder on the inside of first, and he chased it down, running towards 2nd, giving the pitcher no chance of getting to 1st on time AND with the 2nd baseman clearly running to get it. Was that in the 1st Wake game?
