It seems that analytics stalled WF today

Kurts said to his coach he could only do one AB tonight and then Lowder pulled himself because his arm was getting tired.
Analytics took grit out of this team and they weren't used to a dog fight being up big all year.

Skenes proved he’s got more dawg in em tonight than lowder. Lowder still pitched great

I can respect a guy being able to admit he can’t give it his all and hand it to the next guy but this just seemed different. Instead of holding the rope they quickly handed it off

We are spoiled with skenes. Their physical builds are completely different. It’s easy to see why lowder was pulled when he wasn’t conditioned to do a long session over 100 pitches all year, and it was short rest for him. He’s a fantastic ball player and he will shine in majors. Skenes body allows him to do his effortless fastballs and recovery at a faster rate.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pitcher look like they were working less than Skenes does.

Pitching wise I’m not sure you can expect more from their end, but they had no answer for our pitching at the plate

In the post game presser Jay said they have 7 guys on their pitching staff that will be in the Majors. They knew their guys, Tommy just made them pay on a pitch that wasn’t supposed be up in the zone.
Think about them pitching to Crews with 1B open and a runner on 2nd and only 1 out, striking him out then intentionally walking Tommy and then getting Tre to fly out.

Maybe they should have consulted their pitching lab.

Imteresting debate.
If a player realizes he can't perform to his max for some reason, he should be cool and stay in to the detriment of the team?
Or he has no grit?
I've watched and kept up with the threads on all these lsu games the last few days. Can't count the number of posts of you all screaming to pull pitchers.
No grit huh?

He hung that breaking ball to Crews and knew he was losing it.

Normally a pitcher wants to stay in and fight. The coach has to force him out.

I was admittedly shocked when Lowder came out with less than 90 pitches thrown. They've got dudes in the pen, but the margin for error in that game was so thin, and he was still hitting 95 his last inning. Thought for sure he was coming back out.

Both teams pitched great, Skenes is just a different animal on the mound. Their closer should be humbled. Don't be an arrogant prick it'll come back to bite you in the arse. Anyone who makes it to Omaha can win the whole damn thing, respect the other teams.

Yeah, those lsu pitchers put up a fight when the coach came out to replace them....

If he wasn’t feeling it any more and loses some confidence he shouldn’t be out there. It was 0-0 and if he made a mistake they lose. If WF had a lead he stays in and it wasn’t like he was handing the ball to the 10th guy in the staff that pen is very good.

This is so dumb. Kurtz was 0 for the World Series and was arguably hurting his team due to his injury
They have a lot of great bullpen arms and because of that, they haven’t extended Lowder this year like we have Skenes.
Analytics has nothing to do with this.

What an awful take.
They shut LSU out for 10 innings and allowed 2 runs in 2 of three games.
They have nothing to be ashamed of and if being in a dog fight and losing the bottom of the 11th is not having grit, I don't know what is.
Wake is an impressive baseball team.

That's why during the game I was not worried about his pitch count. He was below 15 per inning and that was within Skenes' comfort zone.
