Unreal -

"Former head men's basketball coach’s reference to the strong offer in the
quoted material from the Yahoo! Sports article referred to a coaching
position on the LSU’s men’s basketball staff that he offered to associate of
basketball prospective student-athlete No. 2. Associate of basketball
prospective student-athlete No. 2 understood former head men's basketball
coach’s offer was for a coaching position, as did others: (1) former head
men's basketball coach thought associate of basketball prospective
student-athlete No. 2 could be an assistant coach and help with basketball
prospective student-athlete No. 2’s recruitment; (2) basketball prospective
student-athlete No. 2’s mother stated associate of basketball prospective
student-athlete No. 2 was offered a job; and (3) former interim head men’s
basketball coach on former head men's basketball coach’s coaching staff
at LSU, stated that former head men's basketball coach told him the
“strong arse offer” was a job offer to associate of basketball prospective
student-athlete No. 2. Former head men's basketball coach’s job offer to
associate of basketball prospective student-athlete No. 2 was a countable
coaching staff position on the LSU men’s basketball staff. That job offer
did not run afoul of the noncoaching or strength and conditioning staff
position prohibition under Bylaw 11.4.2. Accordingly, the hearing panel
finds that former head men's basketball coach’s job offer to associate of
basketball prospective student-athlete No. 2 was not a recruiting
inducement."

Great reporting Dick and Pat.

Fruit of the poisonous tree - happens all the time. Once an investigation starts, psychology won't allow people to stop. It's about the person almost all times and not the act.

The IARP report specifically called out yahoo's reporting as BS.

I still don't understand how he gets a two-year show cause for not breaking any rules?

Really? Didn’t we have a final 4 team after shack left? The closest thing that Wade actually coached in for LSU was a round of 32 game. I’m not saying that he didn’t do so good things, but this legendary status some are trying to apply to him it’s simply ridiculous.

Good coach with lots of baggage

There's nothing better than Dickie yelling LISTEN TO THE TAPES when no one had access to the tapes.

Kind of entertaining that LSU fans don’t even know what happened. That’s how much of a media circus this was.

So we fired a successful HC in order to protect the Athletic program from sanctions, when the real culprit was the Football Coach Buffoon, Miles?

No. That was completely misconstrued. Makes for good message board chatter though.

Reality is that Wade was caught paying zero players.

He failed to initially report the blackmail by a former player's girlfriend, had some illegal contact with recruits, didn't turn over some evidence the ncaa wanted, and that's it.

It gets repeated all the time by people who are ostensibly LSU fans. What's interesting is that what actually happened shouldn't form the basis for any penalty because of what the IARP said in the Memphis ruling. Because Penny wasn't the coach of Memphis at the time, he was a booster. Also, because he "didn't know" (just like he claimed in his most recent violation) he got no penalty for paying (giving impermissible benefits, technically) as a booster an actual player, not an ex-girlfriend.

Also, I'd wager that 90% of people who post here don't know that this alleged incident happened at VCU, not LSU.
