Back during NOLA’s heyday in the 70’s and 80’s, was Bourbon a good place to hang out? Or has it always been the way it is now?

Of course. The smell hasn't changed in since that first whiff in the 80's

Trashy kinda had a different meaning 30 years ago.

It was a good thing then

It’s always been trashy, but there was rarely any crime

The criminals used not cross rampart - for the most part

It's been the trashiest stretch of bars in the country for quite some time

Fun though

There is: trashy-charming
Trashy-nasty
Trashy-dangerous etc.***

Used to be charming... Now nasty and dangerous.

***Like all terms today, this list is incomplete and fully changeable.

it's weird but there used to be sort of a "line of demarcation" observed there, I don't know it it was between the cops and the dindus or what, but way back when if you stayed in the "safe" area you were relatively okay, get a block out of the area and you were taking some serious risk

It was trashy in the 80s.

Seemed more crowded year round back then but I've only been once or so a year over the past 15 or so years.

Not sure it was really that much safer either. There were a lot of muggings in Quarter in the 80s.

Trashy without daytime shootings. It was more like tacky 20-30 years or so ago.
