So... is this the great Canadian healthcare that leftists like Bernie Sanders keep talking about?

British Columbia will send cancer patients across the border for radiation therapy to deal with growing wait times and backlog at home.
The plan will cost the province three times the amount for treatment at home. Globe and Mail reporter Andrea Woo explains how this will work and what this says about the state of our health care system.

Much like the National Health in the UK, they don’t like to discuss this part.
The NHS is notorious for bumping people’s procedures for various reasons to the point where people die well before their surgery date.

Must be nice to rely on the good ole USA for every fricking thing.

They will probably only pay what it would cost in BC and US will eat the rest of pass it on to insurance.

grandparents lived in Germany for a few years had long wait times for surgeries would come home to have most stuff done

When I did some consulting for the government in Nova Scotia, a cabby explained the health care system in Canada. It's a lot like our school system. You are assigned to a hospital based on where you live. Housing prices are affected by the quality of healthcare in your hospital district. You couldn't choose a doctor based on quality of care. You had to take a doctor from your district. The cabby hated it, and had a relative who was crippled for live because of a bad doctor.

Healthcare is free, the 10 year wait time to see a doctor is the killer

At least they are paying for the service.

no, it's not free. they pay for it in their taxes, which are generally 40-50% higher than in the US.

Universal healthcare has its drawbacks too..
It isn’t Jardiance and Celebrex commercials and rainbows for them

Americans don't pay the same amongst one another, but it said they are paying three times what it would cost in Canada. Seems like a profit is to be made if we have excess capacity.

The problem these countries with nationalized healthcare have is that they're being overrun by third world migrants.

Anyone who bashes America (Canada is one of the worst about this) is simply jealous, its really that clear cut.
I can see these patients now, flying down to Houston or wherever to receive treatment while bashing the American way of life all the way until touch down (probably talking shite about how we dont have Universal healthcare). Treatment will get done, they will fly back to Cuckada with the same conversations being had.
We, being only concerned with money, will do the treatment not say a word and send them on their way then agree with them that we suck.

All nations with National Health Care have the problem of 'rationing'. That's a huge problem because the passage of time can cause illness to get much worse. It's also annoying as hell to wait 6 months for something that's painful.
A lot of them come to the U.S. instead of waiting. Snowbirds are especially big business for doctors in Florida. Wealthier Canadians will plan a winter vacation to Florida and while there get a procedure that is either not covered by NHC or has a very long waiting period for the procedure.
